Some might consider September 4 just another day on the calendar, but to the Beyhive, it is an international holiday.

Today is the day Beyoncé celebrates another year around the sun as she turns 39-year-old. Though the singer is known for enjoying big celebrations in honor of her special day, that’s not really the case this year. Instead of going all out for her b’day, Beyoncé will be keeping things low key as she enjoys some quality time with Jay-Z, her kids, and other close family members.

Beyoncé plans to keep her birthday simple this year

Over the years, Beyoncé’s birthdays have been real blowouts, but this year’s celebration will be on a decidedly smaller scale.

Since the coronavirus pandemic has put a damper on many people’s plans this year, the singer is unable to travel to exotic locations for her birthday as she has in the past.

However, Bey’s 39th birthday will likely still be extra special as she plans to celebrate the day surrounded by close family members.

According to Hello!, the chart-topper will ring in her birthday with her loved ones, including husband Jay-Z and their three children, Blue Ivy, and twins Rumi and Sir.

As for where the singer will hold her birthday celebrations this year, it’s likely she’ll do so at her and Jay-Z’s $26 million Hampton’s estate, where they have been staying for the last few weeks.

The couple has been spotted in Long Island’s eastern end on several occasions since June and was recently photographed cruising around the area on a yacht with Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey.

Before that, they were spotted enjoying a boat ride with their children, and Bey’s mom Tina Knowles-Lawson. Tina even shared a fun video of herself dancing to her daughter’s song, Black Parade, while aborad the vessel on Instagram.

Beyoncé is known for having big birthday celebrations

Though she is notoriously private and often keeps her personal life out of the public eye, Beyoncé has shown off her extravagant birthday celebrations in the past.

Back in 2002, the Queen Bey allowed camera crews to capture her epic 21st birthday celebration in Atlanta. The singer rang in the prestigious milestone with an ’80s themed skate party donning frilly white hot pants, a matching bra top, and a giant pair of hoop earrings as if she stepped right out of that decade.

In 2016, Bey rang in her 35th birthday with a Soul Train–themed costume party. The soirée was attended by many fellow A-listers and documented in countless blurry videos and photos shared on social media.

But as of late, Beyoncé has been keeping her birthday celebrations relatively simple. In 2018, the singer celebrated her birthday with a blissful getaway in Italy.

The following year, she spent her special day attending Jay-Z’s Made in America music festival where she was treated to a cake and a sweet “Happy Birthday” serenade by friends and family.
