According to Biography, Smith was born in Philadelphia to a mom who was a school board employee and a dad who owned a refrigeration company. His middle-class upbringing wasn’t what he wanted for his life, though, and by the time he was a teen he was already making a bid for a different kind of life.

Smith met Jeff Townes at a party when he was 16, and the two of them started performing as a rap duo called DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince. Their clean-cut style of rap soon found an audience. With the success of their debut album, Smith became a millionaire before he even turned 18 years old.

After a few years as a successful rap artist, Smith made the jump into acting. In 1991, he landed a role on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, a sitcom that was closely based on his rapper persona. The show was a huge hit, and it made him a household name.

During his six years on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Smith started making the move into working in movies. His fans soon saw a different side of the brash, funny young man they knew, as he appeared in critically acclaimed movies such as Six Degrees of Separation. Smith had successfully yet another transition in his career.

He became a star of blockbuster movies

In typical Smith style, his career as a movie star wasn’t something he was content to do in a small way. He quickly became an A-list leading man, wowing audiences as a wise-cracking character in big-budget action films such as Independence Day and Men In Black.

He also demonstrated the ability to carry a gritty drama in films like Ali and Collateral Beauty. As if that weren’t enough he won hearts when he starred in the 2006 drama The Pursuit of Happyness alongside his son, Jaden.

Smith’s movie career has taken him through a wide range of genres and also to dozens of different locations for filming. But no matter where his work took him, he made sure he could relax in style.

When actors are working on a movie, they generally are provided with a trailer they can go to when they’re not filming. This lets them practice lines, rest, and stay in character between takes.

Naturally, these trailers can range from simple to extravagant, depending on the actor’s star status and the film’s budget. But Smith wasn’t willing to take any chances when it came to his accommodations.

Business Insider reports that to ensure he had all the comforts he carved, Smith purchased a custom trailer. It had luxuries $30,000 in leather upholstery, 14 TV screens, and two stories to fit the estimated $125,000 worth of technology.

His one-of-a-kind trailer was known as “The Heat,” and it was reportedly worth an astonishing $2.5 million. Renting a similar trailer would run $9,000 a week.

Other specs include a full granite-countertop kitchen, sliding doors leading to a wardrobe area, and a $25,000 bathroom, equipped with a steam shower.

Smith’s career has been exceptional thus far, and so it makes sense that his perks would be pretty special too. His luxe trailer was just one of the ways he’s been able to indulge himself throughout the years, and as far as his fans are concerned, it was well earned.
