Chris Evans brought Captain America to life in the modern-day Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even before this incredible role catapulted him into being a household name, Evans had created quite a successful acting career for himself, appearing in movies like The Perfect Score, Fantastic Four, and Scott Pilgrim vs The World

Despite being an incredibly talented actor who has pulled on those talents for a diverse set of roles, that isn’t even what Chris Evans is best known for.

Read any interview with the 37-year-old Boston native and you’ll hear that Chris Evans is the nicest guy in Hollywood. But is he really? What proof is there that this prestige title belongs to him? Here’s what we know.

His ex-girlfriend only has nice things to say

Chris Evans and Jenny Slate were an on-again, off-again item between 2016 and 2018. Despite not working out, Slate has only the nicest of things to say about her ex-boyfriend … and let’s face it, if ex-girlfriends have nice things to say then there is definitely a lot of truth to it.

Although Evans has never really opened up about their relationship, Slate did finally do so in a recent interview with New York Magazine. Slate said that Chris Evans is “truly one of the kindest people I’ve ever met… he’s really vulnerable, and he’s really straightforward … He has beautiful, big, strong emotions, and he’s really sure of them.”

After gushing about how wonderful Evans was to be around, Slate said that if you could paint his heart, it would probably be golden.

He visits children’s hospitals

Along with Guardians of The Galaxy’s Star-Lord, Chris Pratt, Chris Evans went and visited the sick children at Seattle Children’s hospital. He did this while wearing his full Captain America uniform (shield and all) to truly make the day of all the kids there.

Not only did he visit, however, but he was very humble about it. Beside a picture of him with one of the children he visited, Chris Evans wrote on Twitter: “AMAZING day at @seattlechildren w @prattprattpratt. Met some TRUE super heroes! Feeling inspired, blessed, touched. Thank you w all my heart.” How sweet is that?

That isn’t the only time he visited a children’s hospital, either. Along with his co-star on Gifted, McKenna Grace, Evans also visited some of the patients at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

Chris Evans supports LGBTQ+ rights

Not only is Evans incredibly nice and does charity work, but he’s also a staunch advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. A lot of this has to do with the fact that Chris Evan’s brother, actor Scott Evans (of One Life to Live) is gay, and Evans has been very outspoken with his support of his brother’s right to love anyone he wishes — or anyone’s right to do so.

In an interview, Chris Evans stated that “I’ve never felt any sort of backlash or friction as a result of the stance I’ve taken in my career in support of my brother or any other human rights … hopefully, it stays that way going forward.” He mentions in the same interview that growing up with a gay brother and two sisters helped him to understand and support those who are different from him.

He supports ALL rights

It isn’t only the LGBTQ+ community that Chris Evans uses his influence to support. He is an animal advocate, and a feminist. He fights to support all the things that he feels right – including one time he spoke out about a desire to “meet with” a man who punched a woman at a peace rally.

Oh, and he also loves his parents and is always talking about how grateful he is for everything they’ve done for him.
