They say when women are pregnant they like to nest. Which means they like to prepare the home for the new baby.

Counting On star Jessa Duggar Seewald may have come down with a case of the “nesties as she recently took to Instagram to show off how she made over her home.

Seewald decided to redo her bedroom before the birth of her and her husband Ben’s third child.

“Decided on a whim that I wanted to become more of a minimalist,” she wrote along with photos of the changes.

What does minimalist mean?

In the age of Marie Kondo, minimalism has become quite popular, but what is it?

Joshua Becker writes on Becoming Minimalist that “minimalism is the intentional promotion of the things we value most and the removal of everything that distracts us from it.”

This basically boils down to getting rid of all of the clutter in your home and only keeping things that add value or joy to your life.

What did Duggar Seewald change in her bedroom?

Duggar Seewald decided to brighten up her bedroom by switching out the paint color on the walls.

Another project we completed recently was our master bedroom minimalist makeover! ☺️ The walls were a dark grey, so I started out by painting them the same as the living room— Revere Pewter (Benjamin Moore). Really brightened up the room and made it feel bigger! Then we decided to sell our chunky bed frame, nightstands and lamps on fb marketplace as well! We didn’t really use the nightstands when we were in bed, and they were just becoming random junk collectors. Lol! Originally, we thought we would get a simpler headboard/frame to replace, but while we were talking it over, it was actually Ben who said “I kinda like the simplicity of having our bed on the floor like this.” I thought about it for a min, and decided I agreed! I realize this isn’t for everyone, but we do have a tall mattress and, with the box spring, our bed sits at about couch height. I LOVE IT. (Can we just pause for a moment and celebrate the fact that there’s no more dusting/cleaning/swiping toys, socks and other random items out from under the bed?! Yay!!! 🥳👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼) . We’ve found that we all pile into bed a lot more to read stories or snuggle. It’s easy for the two year old to climb up and down on his own, and if a little monkey accidentally falls out of bed it’s not likely to be an incident to call the doctor over. 🙈😂 . We brought the rug, which used to be in our living room, to the foot of our bed, and we keep the boys train set in here now. Spurgeon loves creating big tracks, but little bro is pretty good at ripping them up. ☺️ Now we can shut the door so big bro can have 15 min chunks of uninterrupted time to build and be creative. The print on the wall of Ben and I is one from our honeymoon! I did a 24×36 poster print from Sam’s club, which was like $13. Then I found a poster frame in that size from Bed Bath and Beyond! The other framed piece above the changing table is a sketch we had done on our honeymoon. 😍 The changing table used to be black with black knobs, so I found some inspiration on Pinterest for a revamp! The paint color is Valspar Cliveden Forest, and the gold bar pulls I found on Amazon. Loving the simplicity of our new master bedroom! ☺️💞

Continuing in the bedroom, the couple decided to switch up their bed, as well as a few other things to clear up some space.

Duggar Seewald’s room revamp

The reality television star didn’t get rid of everything. Some things she just decided to move around.

“We brought the rug, which used to be in our living room, to the foot of our bed, and we keep the boys train set in here now,” she wrote. “Spurgeon loves creating big tracks, but little bro is pretty good at ripping them up. Now we can shut the door so big bro can have 15 min chunks of uninterrupted time to build and be creative.”

She also took a few photos and had them blown up to make the room more personalized.

“The print on the wall of Ben and I is one from our honeymoon!” she continued. “I did a 24×36 poster print from Sam’s Club, which was like $13. Then I found a poster frame in that size from Bed Bath and Beyond! The other framed piece above the changing table is a sketch we had done on our honeymoon.”

Finally, she changed out some aspects of the furniture that she already had to give it a new feel.

“The changing table used to be black with black knobs, so I found some inspiration on Pinterest for a revamp! The paint color is Valspar Cliveden Forest, and the gold bar pulls I found on Amazon.”
