Hannah Montana ended nine years ago, but the show lives in entertainment infamy. The series that launched Miley Cyrus into superstardom aired on the Disney Channel from 2006-2011. Way back when, Cyrus appeared close with costars, Emily Osment and Mitchel Musso, on and off-screen. Is Cyrus still friends with her closest Hannah Montana alum?

Miley Cyrus went from “Achy Breaky Heart” singer Billy Ray Cyrus’s daughter to mega-superstardom almost overnight. Hannah Montana’s run on the Disney Channel followed Cyrus well into adulthood despite her desire to leave it behind.

Just two short years later, Cyrus shocked Hannah Montana fans. She released her hit single, “Wrecking Ball,” with a new image as part of her fourth studio album, Bangerz. The noticeable changes were part of Cyrus reclaiming her life, sans the Disney Channel filter.

During her time on the show, Cyrus’s everyday character, Miley Stewart, had a close kinship with best friends, Lilly Truscott (Emily Osment) and Oliver Oken (Mitchell Musso). They were the only two who knew about Miley’s secret double identity as the superstar performer, Hannah Montana.

Since the show last aired in 2011, a lot’s happened. Has Cyrus kept in touch with the cast?

Other ‘Hannah Montana’ stars have reunited in the past

In 2018, both Osment and Musso posted their reunion with each other and fellow costars, Moisés Arias and Jason Earles.

Osment captioned her blurry photo, in part: ” Love these boys. Obviously missing our girl! Hope all you HM fans know after all these years we still come back to each other and talk about how much fun we had growing up together in front of the world during the most awkward stage of life and we couldn’t have done it without all of you tuning in.”

Cyrus responded on Twitter saying, “Miss you! Wish I could’ve been with my ‘family to celebrate … Love you so much.”

Musso’s Instagram page is almost exclusively dedicated to his love of his Hannah Montana friends, with the latest as a throwback of the cast having a meal out together.

Clearly the supporting cast keeps in touch, at least a little bit, but where does Cyrus fit in?

Is Cyrus still friends with her former costars?

Though Cyrus has spent the last few months almost exclusively with her boyfriend, Cody Simpson, she still maintains friendships with a lot of celebrities she previously worked with.

Musso and Cyrus seem to keep the friendship fires going. They first reunited in 2014 when Cyrus toured. Each posted photos showing their affection still remains. It’s unclear if they’ve upheld that bond in the last year, but as some childhood friendships go, it may just be the issue of time and adulthood getting in the way.

In Osment’s case, Cyrus previously told Seventeen they were just as close in real life.

“When you’re with someone all the time, it’s more than just she and I are friends, we’re sisters now,” she said. “When we first met we had an instant friendship and now we’re more like sisters.”

However, a few years later, Cyrus opened up about their rocky relationship in her memoir Miles to Go saying their friendship “always ended in a fight.”

There have been other public social media conversations between the two over the years, but just as it is with Musso, life gets in the way of keeping some relationships strong.

Cyrus doesn’t seem to have any beef with her former Hannah Montana costars and likely still considers them friends. You don’t tell just anyone you’re a secret superstar, so Oliver and Lilly became part of the permanent Cyrus trust circle. Still, fans are going to need to see another reunion soon.
