You likely know Sandra Oh as Christina Yang from Grey’s Anatomy, but her biggest fans have known her for much more than the top-of-the-class, stand-offish, and sarcastic doctor at Grey Sloan Memorial. Notable past roles like Sideways, Killing Eve, and Under the Tuscan Sun have made the superstar stand out for more than a decade.

Among those roles, her characters have fallen in and out of love with numerous love interests. So, understandably, fans have become interested in her real-life dating history as well. It’s a challenge getting much out of Oh since she likes to keep your romantic life private, but here’s what we know about her first marriage, rumored boyfriend, and thoughts on kids!

Oh married Alexander Payne in 2003

Due to her commitment to privacy, many fans didn’t know that Oh dated accredited film director Alexander Payne for nearly five years before tying the knot. However, not everything can remain a secret. So, like most things, the public and media caught wind.

Unfortunately, it’s rumored that it was around this time that things started to go downhill for the couple. Their divorce was finalized in 2005. According to Distractify, “the two had separated in order to settle their finances, a process that took the Hollywood couple as many years as their marriage lasted.”

Going back a few beats, the two lovers met on the set of Sideways — a movie directed by Payne (also known for directing Election and About Schmidt). Oh starred in the film as Stephanie, a local wine keeper that one of the film’s leading men falls for.

Not married anymore but reportedly dating

Her marriage to Payne is the only one in the books, but that doesn’t mean Oh hasn’t fallen for other men in her life. In fact, it’s rumored that a certain band member from The Hereafter — Andrew Featherston — dated Oh just after her split from Payne.

It’s unclear when the split occurred, but she has set her eyes on someone else for the last couple of years. Despite just how good they are at not being sighted often, media and the paparazzi have captured a few shots of Oh and Russian-born photographer Lev Rukhin over the years. It’s said that they have been dating since 2016.

So, who is this Lev Rukhin?

According to his bio on his Lev Rukhin site, he has a fascinating past with KGB, ‘stateless’ status, and a photography journey aimed toward “uncovering my father’s death.” He finished his bio by saying, “I now live with my 14-year-old daughter and a lady friend in Los Angeles, documenting the folklore of my community and composing large-scale works based on context and narrative.”

Many believe the “lady friend” is the one and only Oh.

Her future: marriage may be in it, but kids aren’t

As far as we know, Oh and Rukhin have been making their relationship work for at least five years now. In fact, the star’s publicist has confirmed a serious relationship, although she wouldn’t provide his name.  With that being said, there’s a good chance we’ll even see wedding bells in the future.

As for her thoughts on kids.

Oh put off a family for her career and doesn’t regret a minute of it. “I went through that period, I’d say in my mid to late 30s into 40, where it was like, I make a great living and I could do this on my own. And I didn’t,” Oh said in a Marie Claire interview. “I have an extremely fulfilling life as an aunt, not only to my nieces and my nephews but also to a lot of my friends’ children.”

A stance like Oh’s is what is playing a big hand in the reshaping of Hollywood and paving the way for many actors working their way up. The world is changing — for the better — and it’s no longer a necessity to have kids just because you’re a woman. However, it is necessary to pursue a path that makes your heart happy.
