No official casting announcements have been made, but there are quite a few fans who would like to see Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam play Green Arrow for the DCEU. With the success of The CW’s Arrow, it seems like only a matter of time before the DCEU brings the character to the big screens. While fans adore Stephen Amell’s version of the iconic Green Arrow, the studio will likely bring on a new actor to play the character in the film.

Is Charlie Hunnam playing the new Green Arrow?

In light of the rumors, one fan shared some concept art of what it might look like if Hunnam suited up as Green Arrow. The actor has a surprising resemblance to the comic book character and is rumored to be a frontrunner for the role.

Aside from Sons of Anarchy, Hunnam has starred in a number of different films over the past several years, including King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, so he definitely has enough experience to take on the part.

Hunnam has also talked about playing a superhero in previous interviews. According to Heroic Hollywood, Hunnam once thought playing a superhero would not be a good career move but has since changed his mind.

In fact, Charlie Hunnam recently admitted that he looks like the Green Arrow in the comics and would love the opportunity to bring the character to life on the silver screens. Whether or not that ever happens, of course, is yet to be seen.

Is DC working on a Green Arrow film?

DC has not confirmed the rumors of an upcoming Green Arrow movie, but producers are working on a slew of different projects. This includes The Batman (from director Matt Reeves), Aquaman 2, The Suicide Squad, The Trench, Supergirl, Black Adam, and New Gods.

Fans can also expect some standalone movies for characters like Cyborg and Flash. If the studio continues this trend of introducing new characters, it will not be long before Green Arrow begins development as well.

In the meantime, fans can get all the Green Arrow they need by watching the final season of Arrow on The CW this coming fall.

What about those Wolverine rumors?

Green Arrow aside, Charlie Hunnam is also rumored to be in the running to become the next Wolverine. Marvel Studios is taking over the X-Men franchise and, with Hugh Jackman wanting to step down from the role, producers will be looking for someone to fill his shoes.

A variety of actors are reportedly interested in auditioning for the part and fans have already offered their opinion on who should become Logan. While some followers hilariously thought Danny DeVito would be a good replacement, one fan offered a look at what Hunnam might look like in the role.

The altered photo features Hunnam wearing a leather jacket and rocking the same facial hair as Jackman. The image makes a good case for Hunnam landing the part, though this is not the first time the Sons of Anarchy star has been connected to a superhero role. Hunnam has been asked about playing a superhero on the big screens and seems interested in the opportunity. Jackman has also talked about his future as Wolverine and strongly hinted that his time is done. Although it would be great to see someone like Hunnam play Wolverine, it will be hard replacing Jackman.

Charlie Hunnam teams up with Mel Gibson

While we wait to see what unfolds, Hunnam is currently getting ready to star alongside Mel Gibson in a new crime thriller called Waldo. Producers just announced that the movie has cast Clancy Brown for a part, adding even more star power to the project. Eiza Gonzalez has also been attached to the film.

Waldo is being directed by Tim Kirby, who has worked on the hit show, Veep, as well as Fleabag. The movie is an adaptation of Howard Gould’s book, Last Looks, and centers on the story of an LAPD detective (played by Hunnam) who enjoys a minimal existence away from society.

Charlie Hunnam has not commented on the superhero rumors.
