Jada Pinkett Smith is in headlines today after an interesting conversation she had on Red Table Talk. Speaking with Goop founder, Gwenyth Paltrow, the Girls Trip star got candid about accountability. However, media outlets quickly took some of her quotes out of context. It wasn’t too long before news outlets were reporting that it was a challenge for her to maintain a sex life with her long-time husband, Will Smith.

As Will and Jada have been married since 1997, Jada hasn’t been shy about sharing what she’s learned as a mom and a wife. On the most recent episode of Red Table Talk, the Wicked Wisdom member cited the importance of accountability. She encouraged women to speak up when things weren’t going well in their relationships and their lives.

Jada Pinkett Smith opened up about accountability on ‘Red Table Talk’

“You also brought something up that I think is supremely, supremely important and that is the idea of accountability,” Jada shared with Paltrow “That we have to be able to speak up when things aren’t going well, when things are going well, but that level of accountability that actually bleeds through our entire life.” Continuing on, Jada shared that not expressing your needs can be detrimental, especially in the bedroom.

“The thing Will and I talk about a lot is the journey,” Jada added. “We started in this at a very young age, you know, 22 years old. That’s why the accountability part really hit for me because I think you expect your partner to know [your preferences], especially when it comes to sex. It’s like, ‘Well, if you love me, you should know. If you love me, you should read my mind.’ That’s a huge pitfall.”

The ‘Girls Trip’ actor slams the media for making up headlines about her and her husband

Though Jada didn’t give any specifics, outlets began reporting that she and Will had issues in the bedroom. Things got so out of hand that the Set It Off Star took to her Twitter page to debunk the rumors. “Only because I got time today,” the actor penned. “Stop making up headlines. Watch the @RedTableTalk I did with @GwynethPaltrow for yourselves. Will and I have NEVER had an issue in the bedroom. Thank you❣️”

Naturally, fans of Jada, particularly those who watched the clip, rushed to her defense. “I watched and saw a woman who wants to be more accountable for communicating with her husband,” one person replied to Jada’s tweet. “I didn’t see any comments that cast shade on Will at all. People [are] so busy lying they missed a really informative show. Thanks.”

Critics believe Jada should stop talking about her relationship with Will Smith

However, critics weren’t so quick to take Jada’s tweet at face value. Some claimed that the actor publicly speaks about her marriage far too often. They believe that Jada should keep her relationship with Will private. “She needs to stop publicly speaking about her marriage in general,” one person wrote on Instagram. “Jada stop embarrassing him and yourself that’s all and some things deserve to stay private,” another person added. “Maybe she should just stop putting her business out there,” yet another person declared.

Others referenced times in the past where they personally felt that Jada shared far too much about her marriage. “That ‘ENTANGLEMENT’ says otherwise 😂💀,” another person penned, referencing August Alsina. Others felt that Jada only addressed the rumors about her sex life because she wanted to promote Red Table Talk.

Other critics think that Jada Pinkett Smith always finds time to promote herself and ‘Red Table Talk’

“Self promotion at its finest,” a critic penned on Twitter. “It’s trending so yeah you got time today.” Another person claimed that the actor had an abundance of time to speak about her relationship with Will. “You got time every day, Jada…Too much time if you ask me. 😂”

Clearly, people have mixed opinions about Jada’s feelings about accountability and what she chooses to share about her relationship. However, it’s for her and Will to decide what is and isn’t appropriate to share from their marriage. Still, it looks some people are less inclined to hear about celebrities’ personal lives these days. However, the media shouldn’t be so quick to take Jada’s words out of context.
