The Good Place star Jameela Jamil often makes news headlines for her criticism of other celebrities on social media. Recently she was involved in the Kim Kardashian West 40th birthday drama, although she had nothing to do with it. Jamil is sometimes referred to as “the most controversial” person on the internet. However, she refuses to sell certain products, although she says they would make her millions.

Jameela Jamil says that it is not easy to be an activist

Since Jamil’s celebrity status has grown, she uses her platform to advocate for many important causes. The actor told InStyle that what she does is not easy at a Halloween party in 2019.

“Do you have any idea how rich I would be if I’d sold laxatives?” Jamil told the outlet. “Oh my God, you’d all be sh*tting fire, and I’d be resting on my million dollar bed. The amount of cash I don’t get because I’m so careful about not working with problematic brands.”

Jamil is known for calling out other celebrities because they promote laxatives and other products that encourage weight loss.

“What I’m doing isn’t fun — this is just necessary,” she adds. “If I’m going to have children, I’m not bringing them into this sh*t show.”

She also admitted that she tweets whatever is on her mind and doesn’t second guess her tweets until she has already posted them. However, that might be changing after a recent talk with Jada Pinkett Smith.

Jamil joined Jada Pinkett Smith on ‘Red Table Talk’ to discuss her controversial tweets

On Nov. 13, 2020, Jameela Jamil sat down with Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith, and Adrienne Banfield Norris for their Facebook Watch Red Table Talk. During the episode “Secret Struggles of ‘The Worst Person on the Internet,'” Jamil opens up about her depression, body image, and her need to be liked by other women.

She admits that she was often “a real dick” to other women, including Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian West, and even Beyoncé.

“I thought I was doing feminism,” Jamil said during the talk show. “I was this slut-shaming, woman-hating asshole.”

The actor realized that all of the pain she was inflicting on other women resulted from being sexually assaulted at 22-years-old. Instead of confronting her rapist, she admitted that she would get angry at women who sexualized themselves. She feels that her women-shaming comments helped her to grow and mature.

“People change! People can grow,” Jamil added. “It’s why I have not removed myself from society in spite of being asked to, many times, by people on Twitter, and I understand. But the reason I don’t is because I would like to be that proof that human beings can redeem themselves.”
