Jeannie Mai and Jeezy’s relationship

Mai and Jeezy were a rumored couple for a while. The two officially came forward their relationship in August 2019, appearing at a red carpet event together. After they went public, Mai began talking more openly and candidly on The Real about her relationship with the rapper.

In November 2019, she talked about the relationship and how she feels that it is different for her.

“I would say being responsible about making each other feel safe,” she said. “We both went through enough in our life to connect on the understanding that love should feel safe, honest, and pure. Immediately that was a magnetic attraction. We are very attracted to each other’s passions to serve. So because we have a mutual joy of having purpose, we’re going to find a way to do that together.” They got engaged in March 2020.

‘The Real’ host said she want to ‘submit to my man’

Mai received a mixed response when she said on The Real that she wanted to submit to her husband. In an interview on Tamron Hall, Mai looked to clarify the statement. It looks like The Real host may have a different definition of submission than what one would usually think of when it comes to being submissive in relationships.

“Well for me, submit does not mean that you are lower or less important than your man,” she said. “Of course, Jay and I respect each other very equally. What I mean is in my work life, in my actual life, I own my businesses, I run my team, I make all of the decisions and I lead entirely in the outside of my life. So in my home, I want my man to lead. I want him to take in what I would like and what my wishes are, what my dreams are, and then incorporate it, making the overall decision that’s best for our vision together.”

Here’s what she thinks of the social media response

As far as the social media response, Mai says that it doesn’t bother her and she it doesn’t matter what people think.

“Girl, I am 41, I don’t care what kind of pushback I get from other women out there,” Mai told Hall. “This is my life and you know coming out of divorce and also making a major decision to marry again after being blessed to fall in love and finding such a beautiful person, I want to be very clear and open about how our life can be so that we make sure that our vision is aligned and that we both are empathetic to each other and know that this is the structure we’re going into. I think the biggest mistake that you can make is not communicating what you want and not setting it up for a win.”

The Real and Tamron Hall both air weekdays in syndication.
