Jennifer Lopez has a busy work and personal life. It’s important for her to slow down and take care of herself. Here’s what J.Lo says about her favorite self-care practice.

One way Lopez nourishes herself is by saying daily affirmations and focusing on positive thoughts. In her book True Love, she discusses how she was able to heal her emotions through reading self-help books. During difficult times in her life, Lopez turned to her book collection for a boost of encouragement. Lopez often talks about the strength she drew from reading books written by late author Louise Hay.

Lopez says she initially sought help from things to help her “get through the next hour” or “the next day.” However, she chose to reread a favorite book of hers titled, You Can Heal Your Life, by Louise Hay.

Lopez explains that Hay’s books teach it’s possible to “make your own reality” and create your desired outcome through “the power of your own positive thoughts.” She says this message offers a lot of comfort. She believes Hay’s message that we have the power to change how we feel and improve our lives. In her newsletter, Lopez talks about how Hay’s book changed her life. She encourages anyone who hasn’t read it to check it out.

“One [book] that really helped me in my life and empowered me was a book by Louise Hay called You Can Heal Your Life,” says Lopez. “I read it when I was in my twenties. It made me realize how powerful my thoughts were–what I thought about myself, others, and work. [It also helped me realize] all the things I had to pay attention to and how that created my life. I really encourage you guys to take a look at this book if you’ve never read it!”

In her newsletter, Lopez talks about her favorite self-care practice. She says she loves to unwind and take care of herself by taking a bath. This practice has become a “ritual” for her. One thing that’s important for her is staying off the phone during this time. She likes to use that time to focus on rejuvenation.

“My favorite form of self-care is taking a bath!” says Lopez. “To be honest, it’s the most luxurious thing I do. It’s a ritual for me. I use all kinds of bath salts, bath milks and aromatherapy oils. And I love throwing all different color rose petals, dried lavender, and rosemary in there too! Soaking keeps my skin hydrated and silky and calms me down from all the day’s stimulation. I try not to be on my phone either; just pure relaxation time.”

Jennifer Lopez’s skincare routine

Skincare is a big part of Lopez’s self-care practice. In a YouTube video for her fans, Lopez says she makes sure to wash her face right after a workout. She uses a cleanser from her JLo Beauty line called That Hit Single.

Since grime and dirt often build up after a workout, Lopez takes time to wash her skin thoroughly. “That’s really important; take off all the dirt, all the oils,” she says in her video. She says she wears makeup during her workouts because she likes to look good when she looks in the mirror. This is what motivates her. “I want to look good when I look in the mirror and kind of motivate myself,” says Lopez.

After washing her face, she uses That JLo Glow serum. She calls it “the secret ingredient” and “the fountain of youth.” Lopez follows the serum with That Big Screen sunscreen, which also doubles as a moisturizer.
