Jennifer Lopez has been in many high-profile relationships. Most of the time, J.Lo has a companion by her side. However, Lopez says it’s good to be single. Here’s why she made this surprising statement.

Lopez’s first husband was Ojani Noa. They were married from 1997 to 1998. After their divorce, Noa reportedly tried to profit from his relationship with Lopez by sharing personal information about her.

Noa reportedly made a video titled “How I Married Jennifer Lopez: The J.Lo and Ojani Noa Story.” As a result, Lopez sued Noa for $10 million for violating a confidentiality agreement. Noa also tried to publish a tell-all book about Lopez in which he accuses her of having affairs with many men, including Marc Anthony. However, the book’s release was blocked in 2007.

A few years after divorcing Noa, Lopez dated Sean “Diddy” Combs. They were in a relationship from 1999 to 2001. After this relationship ended, Lopez dated and then married her backup dancer, Cris Judd. They were married from 2001 to 2003. Lopez then began dating actor Ben Affleck. They were in a relationship from 2002 to 2004.

Lopez’s next relationship was with Marc Anthony. They were married from 2004 to 2014 and had two children together. Lopez was then in a relationship with former baseball player Alex Rodriguez from 2017 to 2021. After ending her engagement with Rodriguez, Lopez reunited with Affleck earlier this year.

Although surprising, Lopez once said she thinks it’s good to be single. During a 2015 interview with Us Weekly, Lopez explains that when you’re single you have more freedom. However, she says she wouldn’t do anything too “wild” as a single woman. At the time, Lopez was divorced from her third husband, Marc Anthony.

“Being single is good,” she tells the publication. “You have really nobody to answer to, so you can do whatever you want! But I don’t think I go wild or anything.”

The moment Jennifer Lopez realized she needed to divorce Marc Anthony

In her book, True Love, Lopez talks about the moments leading up to her decision to divorce Anthony. She says she knew her marriage wasn’t working, but she didn’t pay attention to what she knew she had to do. However, she began having physical symptoms. Lopez says she ignored her feelings about her marriage to Anthony for so long that she began to develop anxiety.

Lopez reveals she reached a turning point in 2011 during the time she had to do a photoshoot for L’Oreal. She had what she says was likely a panic attack. During the photoshoot, she began feeling overwhelming panic and fear. It was during that moment that she decided to move forward and seek a divorce. She knew her relationship had to end.

“We as human beings do this thing where we stuff down our feelings until they find a way to manifest themselves,” Lopez wrote. “We try to avoid them until there’s no more room, and they come bubbling up like a pot of boiling-hot water that overflows. And when it does, it burns, and it’s scary. That’s what was happening to me. In a blur of fear and panic, I looked at Benny and my mother and blurted out the words: ‘I don’t think I can be with Marc anymore.’ Then I burst into tears.”
