Jim Carrey Just Revealed This Famous Actress Was the Love of His Life

Though Jim Carrey is known for his comedic chops in epic films like The Mask, Liar Liar, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, his personal life has remained relatively low-key. The Canadian actor has been open about his experiences with depression and the homelessness that his family experienced for a period of time during his youth.

More recently, Carrey has been in the news for his anti-vaccination views and for a wrongful death lawsuit following the death of his former girlfriend, Cathriona White. Now, Carrey is opening up even more about some of his personal trials and tribulations.

In Carrey’s semi-autobiographical novel, Memoirs and Misinformation that he co-wrote with Dana Vachon he has revealed that one famous actor was the love of his life.

Inside Jim Carrey’s marriage and relationships

Carrey has been married twice. He married former actor Melissa Womer in 1986 and the pair welcomed their daughter, Jane Erin Carrey later that same year. The couple divorced in 1995.

In 1996, the comedian married his Dumb and Dumber co-star Lauren Holly, but the relationship was over less than a year later. He has also had romances with singer Linda Ronstadt, and actors, Renée Zellweger, Jenny McCarthy, and Ginger Gonzaga.

Still, there is one romance that has remained for Carrey for years.

Jim Carrey says Renée Zellweger is the love of his life

Though they have both moved on now, Carrey and Zellweger met on the set of Me, Myself, and Irene in 1999 and immediately clicked. They were even rumored to be engaged at the time appearing on various red carpets together like, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Man on the Moon, and Nurse Betty.

However, by Nov. 2000, the romance was dead. Now Carrey is giving fans insight into his romance. In Memoirs and Misinformation, he refers to the Australian actor as the “great love of my life.” Back in 2000, Zellweger herself spoke highly of her then beau. She told Entertainment Weekly,

It was a very unexpected, wonderful thing. It was just a really natural thing to want to be around each other. And we didn’t see each other for a few months after we finished the picture — or really speak even — and I just noticed his absence significantly. It just felt like ‘Wow, I really miss him.’

Does Jim Carrey want to rekindle things with Renée Zellweger?

From what we understand both Carrey and Zellweger are currently single. The Bridget Jones’ Diary actor ended a long term relationship with musician Doyle Bramhall II in 2019. However, 20 years after their relationship ended, it doesn’t look like Carrey wants to rekindle anything with his former flame.

“She was special to me, very special,” the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind star revealed on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show. “I think she’s lovely. I don’t pine for anybody, it’s not that kind of situation. It’s just my way of saying there was a very important thing there, you know, and to recognize that.”
