Some of the biggest stars in Hollywood implore a ‘go big or go home’ mentality when it comes to spending. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt have recently opted for a ‘go big, on a new home’ position, with the recent purchase of their Brooklyn abode.

For most of us, $15.3 million is considered a hefty price tag, even for a luxury home.

Krasinski and Blunt actually made their purchase last year, but the sale closed this year. The Standish is a classic arts-style structure, originally built in the early 1900s as a hotel. The area is experiencing an inventory spike and celebrity attention, in part due to the influx of new developments. The neighborhood features a variety of adorable brownstones that adds character to the community.

Krasinski and Blunt have invested in the luxury condo, which in actuality, is two units that the couple is expected to combine into one magnificent pad. Specs are estimated to be a combined 5000 square feet of living perfection.

So, why Brooklyn’s Standish?

The Standish is reported as being Brooklyn’s most celebrity-friendly place to live, which makes it attractive to Krasinski and Blunt, who were seeking a more paparazzi-free zone.

Their former Brooklyn home in Park Slope, among other leading celebs like Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, wasn’t keeping the cameras at bay as much as they preferred.

What Emily Blunt really thinks of the paparazzi

Vultures — they can become like vultures. That’s what Emily Blunt said about the paparazzi frenzy in 2009 as she referenced a movie premier that her mother attended.

She admits that she’s wary of the cameras. She and John prioritize their efforts to lead humble and private lives, as a couple and as parents. Her new home in Brooklyn Heights offers more privacy from these hounds and doesn’t have near the tourist traffic that Manhattan gets ongoing.

What’s inside the power couple’s new pad

The view of Manhattan alone could be arguably worth the asking price of the space. In addition to waking up to a gorgeous cityscape, the building offers a gym, with a 24-hour concierge, and an expansive children’s playroom.

It’s hard to speculate how the interior is designed specifically. Still, based on promotional marketing materials for the space, the luxury home offers elevated ceilings and oversized windows, providing tons of natural light. It’s a condo fit for royalty, with stunning 360-degree views of the city and the Statue of Liberty.

Famously private neighbors and neighborhoods

Privacy is essential to the stars, and the Standish in Brooklyn Heights offers the best celebrity privacy around. It features a laid-back environment to live where locals can meander to area coffee shops and local stores without hassle. This makes it the perfect area for those looking to simply enjoy their community and home life.

Matt Damon seized his opportunity last year and occupies the penthouse. He spent a rough estimate of $16.5 million for his breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline. Paul Giamatti owns a condo in Brooklyn Heights too. There are neighborhoods nearby with celebrity star power also. Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill, and Clinton Hill are home to Ethan Hawke, Olivia Wilde, Norah Jones, Daniel Craig, and others.

In the end, spending $15.3 million is a drop in the bucket for this successful Hollywood couple. The easily recognizable beard of Krasinksi, along with Blunt’s recent publicity for her portrayal of Mary Poppins, means more paparazzi attention.

Investing in a home to escape the ‘vultures’ at least to Krasinski and Blunt, is probably worth every penny.
