According to Celebrity Net Worth, Mayer has an estimated net worth of $70 million. They reported he has “spent 25% of his entire net worth on watches,” saying that the musician enjoys “learning more about the details of various watches through time-consuming research.”

GQ referred to the rockstar as the “most influential watch collector on the planet.”

Eating hot wings while wearing a $400,000 Rolex

In 2018, the accomplished guitarist and watch aficionado wore his rainbow Rolex Daytona Watch during an episode of “Hot Ones.” As he casually talked about his career and chowed down on some hot wings, his pricey watch was noticeable on his wrist.

According to Chrono 24, the Rolex is worth $450,000. The rose gold bracelet has end pieces set with diamonds. There are “36 baguette-cut sapphires in rainbow graduation.” and “11 baguette-cut rainbow-colored sapphire hour markers.”

Despite its astronomical value, Mayer is not afraid to wear the colorful watch daily. In an interview with Talking Watches, he admitted that “it looks ridiculous to people who aren’t watch collectors.” He said, “The attitude on a rainbow Daytona when they first came out was, ‘Yuck” … And something happened that’s brilliant, where the joy of collecting superseded the craziness of the design of these watches.”

Insider reported that Mayer isn’t the only celebrity who has “fallen under the spell of one of Rolex’s most playful watches.” Post Malone, Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Hart, Miley Cyrus, and Adam Levine have all been spotted wearing the Rainbow Rolex Cosmograph Daytona watch.

Originally selling for $96,900 in 2018 when the design was released, the limited edition watch has more than tripled in value.

As a tribute to his role in bringing back the music of the Grateful Dead, Mayer owns a white gold Rolex GMT-Master II Watch with a “Steal Your Face” logo engraved on the back.

BroBible reported that Mayer, speaking fondly of his “Stealie,” said, “I’ve been in the band long enough now that I can admit it. I’ve always had this little talisman. A little good luck symbol to myself, a reminder to don’t screw this up.” The seven-time Grammy Award winner explained the engravers put the logo upside down, saying, “How perfectly Grateful Dead is that? It’s upside down, man. And that’s just fine.”
