Before JoJo Siwa was a multimillionaire and a household name, she was a standout performer on the hit Lifetime show, Dance Moms. With her loud personality and stellar performance skills, she caught the attention of Abby Lee Miller on the second season of Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition, which was a spinoff of Dance Moms. Though Siwa placed fifth, she was brought on as a guest to the ALDC Junior Elite Competition Team for the fifth season of Dance Moms.

But, Siwa’s dreams extended beyond just being a guest. For years, one of her dreams was to be a permanent member of the competition team. Putting up with less than stellar treatment, the 17-year-old worked hard to make her dreams a reality. But, being on the team wasn’t always easy for Siwa. While on a tour in Ireland, some of her teammates were recorded saying less than favorable things about her. They mimicked her voice, called her loud, and even insinuated that she was obnoxious.

JoJo Siwa enjoyed her time on ‘Dance Moms’

Fortunately, Siwa was able to mend her relationships with her former teammates and the girls are still friends today. Many of her Dance Moms castmates have seen her in concert and shown their support of her music career. Though Siwa left the show abruptly in season six to pursue a contract with Nickelodeon, she still looks back on her time on Dance Moms very fondly.

“It was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever done. But, the only reason I left is because I had a really good opportunity to take with Nickelodeon and I really felt that that was the right thing to do for me at the time and so now look where I am now,” Siwa shared about her time on Dance Moms and why she left.

Siwa’s ‘Dance Moms’ castmates wish her happy birthday

Siwa has achieved massive success since leaving Dance Moms. At age 17, Siwa is already a multimillionaire, with an astonishing net worth of $12 million. But, despite leaving the show behind, Siwa has managed to maintain her friendships with her fellow Dance Moms alums. In fact, many of her castmates took to their social media pages to wish the “Boomerang” singer a happy 17th birthday.

“Happy birthday @itsjojosiwa. I’m so proud of you and love getting to see up shine! Love and miss you girl! @itsjojosiwa,” Nia Sioux wrote in her Instagram story, sharing photos of herself with Siwa. “Happy birthday Jojo!II Cannot believe you are 17!! Miss you and love u! Hope you have the best birthday ever,” Mackenzie Ziegler shared in her story, also sharing photos.

Sweet messages for the TikTok star

Kalani Hilliker also shared photos of Siwa. But, as she’s known the singer the longest, she was able to share a bunch of images, some of which predate their time on Dance Moms. “Happy 17th birthday itsjojosiwa. Love you like my sister,” Hilliker wrote on her Instagram story. Kendall Vertes also sent sweet messages Siwa’s way. “Happy birthday to my girl @itsjojosiwa. Filming a tv show together, and walking red carpets with you. You are such a bright soul and have the biggest heart ever!! Love you so so much,” Vertes wrote.

Dance moms Holly Frazier and Melissa Gisoni also shared photos to their Instagram profiles wishing Siwa a happy birthday. Currently, Maddie Ziegler is the only dancer who didn’t post on social media wishing Siwa a happy birthday. But, we’d wager that she sent the 17-year-old a personal message. It’s great to see that Siwa still has the support of her former Dance Moms castmates. Perhaps they can all celebrate together when quarantine is officially over.
