In 2006 she starred in The New Adventures of Old Christine. More recently, fans would love her portrayal of “Selina Meyer,” the fictional vice president role in Veep. Jerry Seinfeld’s show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, is a hit with both car enthusiasts and comedy fans. It’s a talk show idea that is now on Netflix, and has garnered tons of support and a sizeable fan base. In a way, it could be Seinfeld’s dream job as he’s able to sample unique, classic, and performance cars, with a more casual and conversational tone. And yes, it happens to be pretty funny, too.

Reminiscing about the good old days

It was during Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ final year on Saturday Night Live that she met Larry David, who would later co-write Seinfeld. Jerry Seinfeld and Louis-Dreyfus would work together for nearly a decade on-screen, from 1989 to 1998, after having met over a bowl of cereal. As the two moved on with their subsequent careers after Seinfeld, it was still clear to many that the friendship was authentic. Getting the pair together for various events would often get them reminiscing about the good old days. Jerry Seinfeld said in an interview once that he felt Julia Louis-Dreyfus was like the “diamond or the sparkle in the show.” Louis-Dreyfus shared having learned so much from “Jer over the years.” Getting them together in this episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, had Seinfeld saying he liked the sentiment, “do you remember,” then followed by hilarious recaps.

The memories that had them laughing hysterically

Julia Louis-Dreyfus starts off by asking Jerry Seinfeld if he remembers when she was five months pregnant. She remembered having been as big as a house when Seinfeld approached her with a big idea for the show. It was at that moment when he asked her how she felt about maybe writing in about her character, Elaine Benes, just getting fat. Louis-Dreyfus then followed up that memory with a series of criticisms that had the two laughing and complimenting each other. They joked about other scenes, including the parking garage, what happened to her horse, and how they often shouted, “Lines!”

Remembering with other Seinfeld cast members

Julia Louis-Dreyfus brings up a memory of having been in New York with the entire cast of Seinfeld for a cover shoot. She recalled how they all thought they would eat together at a restaurant outside and anticipated a public recognition freak out. But to their dismay, only one man recognized them. The group, including Jason Alexander and Michael Richards, often remembers those years of Seinfeld production fondly and the hilarity they shared together.

This episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee had both Jerry Seinfeld and Julia Louis-Dreyfus remembering their on-screen antics. It had fans just as nostalgic about the popular sitcom, and loving the duos on-screen presence once again.
