Here’s what happened: On July 15, 2020, Gerber and Delevingne were spotted together in Los Angeles. They attended a weekly event in the city held in association with the Black Lives Matter movement, protesting District Attorney Jackie Lacey and fighting to defund the LAPD.
While Gerber and Delevingne were focused on the issues at hand, the paparazzi zeroed in on them in an affectionate moment. A photo released show Gerber with her arms around Delevingne, as the Carnival Row star leans on her. Another sees Delevingne with her hands on Gerber’s waist.
They’ve been spending a lot of time together this year
This isn’t the first time the two have been photographed together in 2020. They went out for dinner with Gerber’s parents, Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford, in June. They even dressed similarly, wearing leather jackets, crop tops, and jeans, according to Just Jared.
Before that, Delevingne, who broke up with actor Ashley Benson in April, was rumored to be living with sisters Rainey and Margaret Qualley post-split. Gerber was also around during that time, and in May, starred in Rainey’s (aka Rainsford) music video for her song “Crying in the Mirror,” which was directed by none other than Delevingne.

Before Delevingne and Benson broke up, she and Gerber hung out. They were all “quarantining” together in the early days of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. They were joined by the Qualleys and actor Tommy Dorfman of 13 Reasons Why, and they spent their time making TikTok videos.
In addition to the Qualleys and Benson, Delevingne and Gerber very much run in the same circles. Though Delevingne is mostly an actor now, she began her career as a model, a field that Gerber is still in. Both have shared Instagram shots with fellow runway models like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner.
Did Taylor Swift have anything to do with their friendship?
Speaking of models, someone else who has lots of pals in that industry is Taylor Swift. She hasn’t been seen with her “girl squad” as much since she began dating Joe Alwyn, but a few years ago, she rarely went out without one of them. She even asked a bunch of these women, including Delevingne, to be in her 2015 music video for “Bad Blood.”
