Lauren London fans love her in the BET television show Games People Play. But, in the wake of Nipsey Hussle’s death, many have been questioning whether or not London will return to the series.

London is reprising her role but taking a step back as a full-time cast member. Karrueche Tran will join the show as the new lead for its second season.

Lauren London in ‘Games People Play’

Games People Play is a sports drama series that focuses on the lives of couples and friends within the NBA. The series chronicles all of the scandals and great lengths players and their circle will go through to achieve the ultimate cover-up to save their families and public image.

In the series inaugural season, London stars as Vanessa King, the wife of the cheating star basketball player, Marcus King (Sarunas Jackson). The couple are college sweethearts and Vanessa grapples with giving up her dreams to play a doting wife and mother.

Throughout the season, she struggles with salvaging her marriage and moving on, while becoming romantically involved with a college friend. By the end of season one, Vanessa becomes pregnant and decides to stay with Marcus, though it’s not revealed whether or not Marcus is the father of her unborn child.

Lauren London tries promoting ‘Games People Play’ amid Nipsey Hussle’s death

Games People Play premiered in April 2019, within a month of the tragic death of Hussle, London’s longtime partner. Understandably, London did not fully participate in promoting the show as she began grieving.

With the exception of a few Instagram posts to promote the show, London’s attention has been on caring for her two children and honoring Hussle’s legacy.

She’s accepted numerous awards on Hussle’s behalf, including the rapper’s first Grammy this past year. She also works on expanding his clothing and lifestyle brand, The Marathon Clothing. 

Lauren London takes a minimal role on ‘Games People Play’; Karrueche Tran casts

Games People Play is returning for a second season. London is returning but in a more minimal role. Deadline reports Tran is cast as the new star of the show as Eden Lazlo. Her character is the daughter of the LA Vipers owner, the team Marcus plays for. 

From the description, it appears that Tran’s character will eventually be a love interest for Marcus, adding more drama to the storyline. 

The Tracey Edmonds produced series also stars Parker McKenna Posey, Jackie Long, Kendall Kyndall, and Karen Obilom. The series is based on the book of the same name, written by author Angela Burt-Murray.

Karrucehe Tran’s budding acting career

This isn’t Tran’s first lead role. The former girlfriend of Chris Brown is creating her own path from her famous ex as an actor, with starring roles on the TNT drama Claws, and the Emmy-award winning digital series The Bay.
