Kate Middleton Owns Countless Items of Princess Diana’s Jewelry, Does Meghan Markle Own Any?

From stunning tiaras to engagement rings and diamond earrings, Kate Middleton has worn an array of jewelry pieces from Princess Diana’s collection. As the wife of Diana’s oldest son, Prince William, Kate seemingly has unlimited access to her collection. While Kate has never been shy about showcasing Diana’s old pieces, does Meghan Markle own any of Diana’s jewelry?

Kate Middleton rocks Prince Diana’s engagement ring

One of the first pieces from Diana’s collection that Kate displayed in public was her engagement ring.

In 2010, William popped the big question while the couple was enjoying a romantic vacation in Africa. The engagement ring was actually the same ring Prince Charles gave Diana when he proposed.

According to Express, Charles paid around $28,000 for the ring back in the day. It is now estimated to be worth well over $300,000.

Once Prince William and Kate Middleton exchanged vows in 2011, he gifted her with a pair of sapphire and diamond earrings that also used to belong to his mom.

The Duchess of Cambridge has worn the engagement ring and earrings during numerous royal engagements over the years. Once William sits on the throne, her access to the royal family’s jewelry collection will be even greater.

What is Kate’s favorite piece from Princess Diana’s collection?

Apart from her engagement ring, there is another piece of jewelry Kate favors above the rest. In fact, one of the more expensive items Kate has worn in the past decade is Diana’s Cambridge Lover’s Knot tiara.

The Lover’s Knot is a stunning tiara that features 19 diamond arches and the same number of pearls, all of which are set in a silver and gold framework.

Eddie Le Vian, an expert in jewelry, estimates that the Lover’s Knot tiara has around 85 carats in diamonds. The tiara’s value is somewhere around $3 million, though it could probably fetch well over $25 million at an auction.

Kate Middleton has worn the Lover’s Knot tiara on numerous occasions. In December of 2019, for example, Kate rocked it during a diplomat reception at Buckingham Palace.

She was first spotted wearing it during an Australian tour and has obviously fallen in love with it ever since.

What about Meghan Markle?

Although Meghan has not worn as many of Diana’s pieces as Kate, she does own a few pieces from her collection.

Meghan’s engagement ring, for example, has a direct link to Diana. Prince Harry reportedly crafted the ring out of diamonds from Diana’s vault, giving it a special place in the Duke of Sussex’s heart.

“Prince Harry chose a trilogy engagement ring for Meghan, with a center stone from Botswana and two diamonds on either side which came from his late mother Princess Diana’s jewelry collection,” LeVian shared.

An interesting side note about engagement rings is that Harry had possession of Diana’s engagement ring following her tragic death. He gifted the ring to William so that he could propose to Kate Middleton in 2010.

If Harry had met Meghan before William and Kate tied the knot, it is possible that the Duchess of Sussex would be wearing his late mother’s ring. That did not happen, of course, though it is unclear if Harry ever regretted giving the ring away.

Kate Middleton dons old ring

Although Kate loves her engagement ring, she has been wearing another piece of jewelry on her fingers in recent months. Royal watchers have noticed that Kate has been wearing her old citrine ring as of late.

Kate first wore the ring in 2002 but stopped wearing it after she got engaged. It is believed to be worth anywhere between $5,000 and $20,000.

We do not know why Kate Middleton has started to wear the ring once again, but it could have something to do with all the drama the royals have faced over the past few months. This includes Prince Andrew stepping down in light of his sex trafficking scandal and Harry and Meghan’s recent departure.

Today The Duchess of Cambridge visited HMP Send to talk to some of the women she met during a visit to the prison in 2015 — who have since been successfully rehabilitated, released and are rebuilding their families, in addition to women currently at the prison. The Duchess heard about the work that the Forward Trust do at the prison in supporting clients to improve their relationships with friends and family, including reconnecting with children. Among those that The Duchess spoke with today was Kirsty, who she first met in 2015. Kirsty spent her childhood in and out of the care system. Following a series of adverse experiences, she turned to substance misuse and began a 10-year cycle of addiction and reoffending: • “While serving my sentence, I woke up one day and realised enough was enough. • I took myself to my drug and alcohol worker and asked for help. I was lucky enough to be sent to HMP Send for a fresh start. • The programme changed my life. In some of my darkest moments since, I have never turned back to drugs.” • What we experience in the earliest years – from in the womb to the age of five – is instrumental in shaping our future lives. The Duchess of Cambridge has spent time meeting with families across the country and hearing about the issues they deal with day-to-day, in addition to speaking with academics, experts, organisations and practitioners. As a stone, citrine is supposed to represent optimism and is believed to help in decision making.

There is also a possibility that the ring holds some king of sentimental value to Kate, which would explain why she has kept it around all these years.

Kate Middleton has not commented on the things she owns from Princess Diana’s jewelry collection.
