Though they continue to try and put on a good front, the British royal family is more fractured than it’s been in a long time. The fallout began in 2016 when Prince Harry met Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and introduced her to his family.

Things only escalated since then, with Prince Andrew being ousted from royal life amid his ties to late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Then, just a couple of months later, Meghan and Harry decided they were no longer interested in royal life, leading them to resign from their royal duties.

With the Sussexes living their new lives in California, Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, are the main faces in the royal family. Unfortunately, the rift between them and the Sussexes doesn’t seem to have healed just yet.

The Sussexes and the Cambridges aren’t on great terms

Things reportedly turned sour between the couple before Meghan and Harry wed in 2018. When the duke introduced the American actor to his family, William warned his younger brother to slow his romance. Apparently, the younger prince was highly offended, beginning the rift between the pair.

When Meghan and Harry did wed, they embarked on an ambitious plan to modernize the royal family. However, since William ranks higher than Harry as the future king, the Sussexes ideas were often pushed aside.

Megxit also caught the entire royal family off guard. Though the Sueesexes are still on good terms with Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, their relationship with the Cambridges is still tense. Things are apparently better than they were before between the brothers. However, William missed out on Harry’s birthday Zoom celebration in Sept. 2020.

“William sent his birthday best wishes,” a royal source told The Mirror. “There was some excuse made about why he wasn’t there….It was a bit awkward that William and Kate weren’t there.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton used to have photos of the Sussexes in their home

Things weren’t always so fraught between the royals and their wives. Though Meghan and Kate never truly got a chance to bond, they were always friendly with one another. William and Harry were thick as thieves for years, and Harry and Kate shared their own special bond.

The prince often referred to Kate as the sister he never had. In 2018, the Cambridges even had photos of the Sussexes on display in their home, Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace.

“Kensington Palace is a palace, it’s not even a house,”BBC Radio 1 star Clara Amfo explained to  Hello! Magazine,  about her 2018 visit to the Cambridge home. “It takes your breath away when you go in. There were beautiful pictures up of all the kids, William and Kate, Meghan and Harry. It was just a really beautiful family home.”

Kate Middleton and Prince William don’t have any photos of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in their living room

Now, just two years later, royal fans noticed no photos of the Sussexes on display in the Cambridges’ living room. During a recent Zoom call where she spoke to military families, Kate’s had her living room as her backdrop.

Fans spotted flowers, multiple framed family photos, vases, and two paintings. However, the photos only showcased Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

It’s possible that the Sussexes, as well as Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth II, and other family members’ photos, are on display elsewhere in the home. After all, the photos shown are ones that the Cambridges have shared with the public previously.
