Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, and her only daughter, Princess Charlotte, seem to have a tight-knit relationship. Charlotte is approaching the age where she attends more events with her parents, and when Prince William and Kate Middleton do bring the kids around, it’s not uncommon that Charlotte and Kate coordinate what they wear.

The two recently shined in complementary outfits at their 2022 Easter appearance — and that’s not the only time they’ve gone to public events in similar styles.

Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte donned matching Easter outfits

In April 2022, Charlotte and Prince George stepped out with their parents to make an appearance at St. George’s Chapel for Easter Sunday services. The two Cambridge children don’t make public appearances too often; however, now that they’re a bit older, William and Kate do bring them to a handful of events.

This year, when the family (minus Prince Louis) stepped out, royal fans immediately noticed that Kate and Charlotte had coordinated their clothes. The duchess wore a pale blue dress paired with slightly darker heels and a headpiece, and Charlotte wore something similar: A dress and stockings of the same blue shade, paired with darker blue sweater. William and George wore navy suits, though Kate and Charlotte’s cornflower hue was more noticeable.

The Duchess of Cambridge has worn matching outfits with Princess Charlotte in the past

Charlotte and Kate’s Easter appearance marked one of several occasions where the Cambridge women have worn either matching or coordinating outfits. Kate’s pink dress and matching fascinator at Trooping the Colour in 2017 were memorable pieces on their own, but Charlotte also stepped out in bright pink, which stood out even more. The two have historically worn similar outfits to the annual event; in 2016, they wore shades of light pink, and in 2018, they wore blue. However, the two did not match in 2019.

At church service on Christmas in 2019, Kate wore a dark green hat, which perfectly matched Charlotte’s dark green jacket. Earlier that year, the two attended a charity polo match to watch William, and they both sported pink floral dresses. And back in 2017, Kate and Charlotte both wore blue dresses while on a trip to Poland.

Inside Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte’s Relationship

Kate Middleton has matched with Princess Charlotte since Charlotte’s birth

William and Kate have welcomed three children since they wed in 2012, and for all three, they’ve held Christenings and have released family photos. Charlotte, who was born in May 2015, celebrated her Christening in July 2015. On the day of the event, Kate wore an ivory dress and fascinator that was nearly identical in color to Charlotte’s Christening outfit. The coat dress was by Alexander McQueen, and according to People, Kate has the same dress in yellow, which she wore to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in 2018.

As Charlotte gets older, it’s unclear if the mother-daughter duo will continue to coordinate their outfits. But for now, we’re loving the sweet bond they show through their style.
