Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has truly stepped up to the plate in the past several years. However, her work ethic was questioned when she first married Prince William in 2011. 10 years later, it’s clear that Kate understands the ends and outs of what it means to be a leader and thrive in the British royal family.

As the years have pressed on, she’s taken on more and more responsibility. She’s also found her niche when it comes to focusing on mental health and early childhood development.

She has weathered more than one storm, and now as the British royal family is evolving following Megxit and Prince Philip’s death, Kate’s style is also changing as she prepares to become queen.

Kate Middleton tried to change her image before marrying Prince William

Royal fans and critics were skeptical of Kate before she married Prince William. She was dubbed “Waity Katie” by the press for waiting nearly a decade for the prince to propose. Also, there were rumors that Queen Elizabeth II was less than impressed by her lack of career path.

As a result, Kate tried to change her image before marrying the prince to get people to take her more seriously. “With Prince William’s engagement now a surefire certainty, there are intriguing signs that Kate Middleton is preparing for her future role,” journalist Adam Helliker told Sunday Express. “It looks like she’s taking it very seriously indeed too. I hear that in the past few weeks, the former accessories buyer has quietly informed friends that she would like to drop the informal ‘Kate’ and in future wishes to be known by her full name: ‘Catherine.’”

Kate Middleton will be the perfect queen because of her ‘ruthless’ survival streak

Though her name change didn’t exactly stick, Kate truly understands what it means to survive in the royal fold.

“She has also modeled her approach on royal life directly after the queen. “Kate is impenetrable,” Tatler Magazine reported. “There is nothing to like or dislike. She has a ruthless survival streak, just like the House of Windsor. It’s why she is so well suited. She keeps her head down because the prize of being queen is so great. She models herself on the Queen and now speaks like the Queen.”

Kate Middleton’s style has changed drastically as she prepares to become queen

In addition to her taking on more responsibilities as she prepares for her future role as queen consort, Kate has also begun to shift her style.

“Since Kate has been in the limelight, she has always been somewhat of a conservative dresser,” celebrity stylist Anthony McGrath told Express. “However, since marrying Prince William and officially becoming a member of the royal family, her outfits have certainly become more modest. She introduced skirt suits and coat dresses, which have since become staple items in her wardrobe and are frequently her go-to looks for public engagements.”

He added that though Kate has long since retired her more flirty looks, she still adheres to her personal style. “We must give her credit for staying true to who she has and not molding herself into something else entirely. Slowly, but surely, she has finessed her style over the years, and her style is, without a doubt, suitable for a future queen.”
