Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s exit from the British royal family has been awkward for everyone involved. Though many of the senior royals, including Queen Elizabeth II, are sympathetic to the Sussexes’ feelings, that hasn’t made things easy.

The Sussexes just finished their final royal engagements as senior working members of the royal family. Commonwealth Day reunited them with Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge. Though everyone was calm and cordial — the tension between the foursome cut like a knife.

Thankfully, Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex were present to defuse the tension, but the royal brothers barely said a word to one another while the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge avoided one another altogether. While Prince William obviously has some unresolved issues with his younger brother, the Duchess of Cambridge is also still taking Megxit badly.

Kate Middleton’s workload has become overwhelming since Megxit

Since Prince William is being groomed to become the future Crowned King, he and the Duchess of Cambridge’s workload has already grown exponentially in the past few years. Though they are relieved Megxit is over, it has only made things more hectic for them.

“Kate’s in a panic and has been having bouts of anxiety,” an alleged insider told US Weekly. “She barely has time to rest, and when she does try to sleep, her mind is constantly racing.” Apparently, the duchess’ schedule includes 18-hour workdays.

Thankfully, it looks like the queen has asked the Wessexes to step in and take off some of the burden.

Kate Middleton misses her close bond with Prince Harry

Prior to his 2016 fallout with Prince William due to the older prince’s reservations about the Duchess of Sussex, Kate and Prince Harry were very close. Prince Harry thought of the duchess as the sister he’d never had.

Though she’s obviously standing with her husband on this, the Duchess of Cambridge misses Prince Harry terribly. “She wishes she could speak to Harry. She misses him and fears she’ll never be close to him again,” an insider told US Weekly. Unfortunately, she hasn’t been able to connect with Meghan either. “They couldn’t be further apart,” the source explained.

Kate Middleton is still very upset by Megxit

Though Prince William seems resolved in moving forward without his brother by his side, the Duchess of Cambridge is still quite upset.

Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl explained that Kate’s body language during Commonwealth Day revealed everything we need to know about how she is feeling. “Possibly she was tired but she didn’t look overjoyed,” Nicholl explained. “To be honest I think Kate has taken it all badly. She Harry and William were once such a happy trio, she thinks what has happened is all very sad.”

Unfortunately, with the Sussexes in Canada focused on their private life, and the Cambridges as the center of the riyal family in the U.K. — fences won’t be mended anytime soon. “Harry misses his brother and Kate, but there’s too much mud under the bridge at this point for any meaningful communication. They’re cordial, but that’s about as far as it goes,” an alleged source told US Weekly.
