Keanu Reeves has developed a one-of-a-kind personality over the course of his three decades of fame. The “John Wick” star often keeps to himself, choosing to even occasionally spend his birthday alone.

When it comes to humans, Reeves might hang in the background. But there is proof that the actor can’t contain his excitement around puppies.

Keanu Reeves is known as one of the most laid-back actors in Hollywood

Over the years, Reeves has built a reputation for living as normal of a life as possible. Reeves has been known to help fans, including when he once helped organized a shuttle bus for strangers who were stranded at a California airport.

Reeves’ personality has led him to become one of the most well-liked celebrities. At one time, he was even the focus of social media memes, which essentially were photos with funny captions that showed love to the star.

The actor has had various interactions with fans — all of which have also showed off his character. While training for “John Wick,” Reeves once was caught by surprise when a young fan jumped on him. Reeves’ trainer, Patrick Murphy, recalled to Esquire that, rather than getting angry, Reeves calmed the boy and shared a friendly conversation with him.

Keanu Reeves playing with puppies is the sweetest thing you’ll ever see

Reeves tends to hang back from large crowds. The actor once even revealed to Jay Leno that he sometimes goes out to dinner alone for his birthday. “It was a contemplative birthday, so I went out to dinner by myself,” Reeves once said of turning 39.

Though Reeves might like to stay away from crowds of people, he doesn’t have that same feeling when in a crowd of puppies. In 2019, Reeves did an interview with Buzzfeed, where he was surrounded by puppies — and it was the most wholesome moment ever.

“Look how cute you are!” Reeves said as he picked up one of the small dogs. “You’re like a cutie pie — you’re a cutie pie,” he continued in a sweet dog voice. While being asked questions about himself, Reeves couldn’t help but turn his attention to the pups, constantly gushing about them.

Reeves’ character was exemplified when one of the puppies peed near his leg. “Oh, we’ve got puppy pee,” he said excitedly. “Let’s play in the puppy pee.” Rather than finding it gross or feeling uncomfortable, Reeves handled it like a champ.

Some have suggested Reeves is hard to get to know

Though Reeves’ personality is adored by fans, some in Hollywood who have worked with the star said that, since he’s so introverted, it’s a bit hard to get to know him. In 2005, Shia LeBeouf and Reeves starred together in “Constantine” and LaBeouf admitted Reeves was hard to figure out.

“I don’t think he hangs out with other humans that much,” LaBeouf said in an interview with Time.

“Constantine” director Francis Lawrence somewhat echoed LaBeouf’s words about Reeves. “Do I really know Keanu after working with him? No,” Lawrence said. “He’s hardworking, he’s generous, he’s a sweet, sweet guy. But it’s all just sort of on the surface.”
