Paul Mounet was an actor from the late-1800s

According to People Pill, Mounet was born on October 5, 1847, in Bergerac, Dordogne, as Jean-Paul Sully. He was the younger brother of actor Jean Mounet-Sully. Before following in his brother’s footsteps, Mounet studied to be a medical doctor.

Mounet made his acting debut in 1880 in a production of Horace. In 1889, he had the opportunity to perform at the Comédie Française and became a full member two years later. The actor went on to star in productions like Othello, Hamlet, and Patrie.

When moving images started to become popular, Mounet appeared in multiple silent films. He landed the role of the title character in the 1909 adaptation of Macbeth. Mounet also starred in The Return of Ulysses, Rigoletto, and Les Jacobites

For a time, Mounet worked as a professor at the Paris Conservatoire. The actor died on February 10, 1922, due to heart disease.

The concept of a doppelgänger has been around for a long time. In mythology, doppelgängers are considered evil twins and a sign of bad luck. Nowadays, people use the term in a general sense to explain how one person looks very similar to someone else. According to Closer, Reeves is one of the many celebrities who have a striking resemblance to a famous person from history.

People noticed the similarities between Reeves and Mounet. The two actors have dark hair of roughly the same length. If the cheekbones do not catch a person’s eye, then the almost identical facial hair pattern might.

While some people may be amused at Reeves and Mounet’s appearances, several fans came up with a theory. According to CinemaBlend, the theory is that Reeves is immortal, making him and Mounet the same person. One of the supporting details is that Mounet’s body reportedly never got recovered after his death.

Some speculate that Reeves’s origin dates back further than the 19th century, and he assumed multiple identities. If the immortal theory is true, then it could explain why Reeves is wise and humble.
