Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid Are Actually Related (Sort of)

Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid might be two of the world’s biggest supermodels, but they are also best friends. They have bonded over their careers, and both Hadid sisters have been close with both Jenner sisters for nearly a decade. Surprisingly, though, the Jenners and the Hadids are actually (sort of) related through an intricate string of marriages.

Anyone who has watched Keeping Up With the Kardashians through the years might remember when a 16-year-old Jenner was being taught how to properly walk the runway by big sister Kim Kardashian West. At the time, Jenner wasn’t taking the profession too seriously, but she knew it was something she wanted to do. Now, eight years later, Jenner has become the world’s highest-paid supermodel and has made plenty of friends along the way, including Gigi Hadid.

Hadid has been in the industry since she was a toddler, modeling clothes for Guess by age two. But she took several years off in between, only continuing her career after moving to New York City to attend college. As of 2018, Hadid was one of the top 10 highest-paid supermodels in the world.

Hadid and Jenner are ex step siblings — sort of

Jenner and Hadid met through Hadid’s sister, Bella, after the two connected on Twitter when they were teenagers. The sisters’ modeling careers brought them closer to Jenner, but it turns out they might be more than friends. They’re (sort of) former step siblings.

According to Grazia, the Hadids’ mother, Yolanda Hadid, married David Foster in 2011 (they divorced in 2017). Foster was previously married to Linda Thompson, the ex-wife of Caitlyn Jenner, who is Jenner’s father. So, in a bizarre link of exes, the Hadids and the Jenners were, at one point, borderline step-sisters. Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner have commented on the marital link in the past, but they don’t take it too seriously. Still, though, it’s definitely a small world.

Hadid is preparing to welcome her first child with Zayn Malik 

The world recently learned that Hadid would be starting a family of her own with longtime boyfriend Zayn Malik. Malik, formerly of British pop band One Direction, has been dating Hadid since 2015, though they’ve taken some time off over the years. In April 2020, Hadid announced that she and Malik were expecting their first child.

Jenner is used to being an aunt — she’s the only one of Kris Jenner’s kids who doesn’t have children of her own. But this means she has that much more experience as an auntie and will certainly be a great one to Hadid and Malik’s child.

Jenner has previously said she isn’t rushing into having kids. She once revealed that she could see herself having kids in her late 20s; she does occasionally have baby fever but said it passes quickly. For now, she’s focusing on herself and her career, and her future family will come when she’s ready.
