Last week, Kardashian fans’ biggest nightmare came true. In a joint statement co-signed by all the members of the Kardashian-Jenner bunch, the family announced that their ever-popular E! series Keeping Up With the Kardashians is ending after its 20th season.

While fans were left heartbroken over this news, the family is also pretty emotional about saying goodbye to reality tv. But some members of the famous clan are a little more broken up about this decision than others.

‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ is ending in 2021

On Sept. 8, Kim Kardashian West took to Instagram to announce that she and her family had reached a joint decision to end their hit reality show after 14 years.

“After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way,” she wrote.

“Thank you to the thousands of individuals and businesses that have been a part of this experience and, most importantly, a very special thank you to Ryan Seacrest for believing in us, E! for being our partner, and our production team at Bunim/Murray, who’ve spent countless hours documenting our lives,” Kardashian West continued.

The reality star ended her statement by thanking the show for changing her life and making her into the person she is today.

“Without Keeping Up with The Kardashians, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who has watched and supported me and my family these past 14 incredible years. This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever,” she concluded, noting that the final season will air sometime in 2021.

The Kardashians pulled the plug on ‘KUWTK’ for business reasons

Ever since Kardashian West broke the news that KUWTK is coming to a close, there’s been a ton of speculation about why the show is ending.

While media outlets claim Kris Jenner officially pulled the plug on the beloved series because Kardashian West and Kylie Jenner wanted to quit, insiders say there are several business and personal reasons why the family is closing this chapter in their lives.

According to TMZ, the Kar-Jenners are making more money on social media outlets and through their personal businesses than on TV. Sources also say that KUWTK‘s ratings have been down lately, and the family doesn’t really see a point in keeping the show going.

However, the famed momager revealed a simple reason why she and her loved ones decided to end their show, sharing that it was just “the right time.”

“I think the number 20, well it used to sound good until 2020, but the number 20, it just seemed like the right time,” the Kardashian matriarch explained during a recent interview on On Air With Ryan Seacrest. “I think for us to take a minute and breathe and everybody slow down a bit. Not slow down professionally, but just you know figure out what our next steps are.”

She added, “We’ve had such an amazing run and so grateful for every single moment and everyone we work with.”

The family was divided on whether to end their show

Though ending KUWTK was a family decision, it turns out that not everyone in the Kar-Jenner clan was in favor of axing the hit series.

According to Page Six, Khloé Kardashian and Scott Disick wanted to continue filming the show as they saw it as an “easy payday.”

Although no one in the Kar-Jenner clan is exactly strapped for cash, insiders note that Kardashian and Disick’s clothing companies — Good American and Talentless, respectively — aren’t the most lucrative compared to Kylie and Kim’s cosmetics lines and Kendall’s modeling career.

While it’s likely Kardashian and Disick won’t run out of money anytime soon, it sounds like they’re unsure about how successful they will be once KUWTK ends.

While no one really knows what the future has in store for the Kardashian-Jenners, we’re certain that the family isn’t done doing big things in the entertainment world.
