Anyone who has ever kept up with the Kardashians is familiar with their lavish holiday parties.

With previous celebrations costing over $1 million, the internet eagerly anticipates the festive photos and iconic Christmas cards. Unfortunately, 2020 had a way of disrupting plans and even the Kardashians weren’t immune to its curve balls. Between COVID-19 and career changes, things looked a little different this year… sending Khloé cross-country to celebrate in a brand-new city.

The Kardashians couldn’t celebrate with their normal Christmas traditions

For over four decades, the annual Kardashian Christmas Eve party has been the talk of Calabasas and beyond. With musical guest stars, A-list attendees, and runway-ready outfits, the Kardashian-Jenner clan always takes the “most magical time of the year” to the next level. It’s become an iconic part of their brand. But during a worldwide pandemic, when thousands are falling ill and facing financial hardship, the last thing you want to be in the news for is throwing a massive, lavish gathering.

According to People, a concerned fan reached out to Khloé on Twitter to see if the family was planning on continuing the tradition. Khloé is quoted as replying, “The Covid cases are getting out of control in CA. So we decided that we’re not doing a Christmas Eve party this year. […] Taking this pandemic seriously is a must.”

Although Khloé went on to say that she was hopeful for a smaller Kar-Jenner gathering, she didn’t join her sisters this year. Instead, she and her daughter True headed to Boston to celebrate with their own little family.

Will There Be a Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Card in 2020?

Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson could perhaps be the poster-couple for on-again, off-again relationships. Even the most loyal fans of the family struggle to keep track of the pair’s status. But despite an apparent lack of labels, there’s no lack of love within the family of three. Thompson and Kardashian agreed to prioritize True and ensure that she grows up with a positive relationship with both of them.

Keeping that promise around the holidays meant setting off to Boston, where Thompson has recently relocated. The former Cleveland Cavalier was traded to Boston Celtics — an exciting career move that also introduced distance and tight scheduling to his relationship. Still, the small group seemed to have plenty of time for fun once they were back together again. Khloé took to Instagram to share snaps from Lookout Farm, where a beaming True decorated cookies and totally out-dressed some gingerbread men. The proud mom shared in the caption that the day was filled with “plenty of candy eating”!

Relationship rumors followed Khloé cross-country

Of course, there couldn’t be a Kardashian-Thompson reunion without plenty of online speculation. Following Thompson’s infidelity, fans are always hungry for evidence of the pair’s reconciliation. While they’ve made it clear that they are on good terms and ready to be True’s parents together, it’s still hard to clearly define the relationship

Kardashian’s very public internet life is a constant source of clues for diehard followers. A cryptic tweet following Thompson’s career change coupled with a spotting of a massive diamond ring sent the rumor mill into a frenzy. Although there’s no confirmation yet, it’s hard not to hope for a Thompson appearance in next year’s Kardashian Christmas card.

The timing of the trip to Boston has certainly gotten some excited. We can’t help but wonder — were they simply ringing in the New Year… or warming up their wedding bells?
