The show has run for 20 seasons, and many fans feel that they have really gotten to know each member of the family, especially those that have been watching since it first aired in 2007.

Even those who don’t watch the show have at least some familiarity with Kim Kardashian, though they may not know much about her other than what they see in the tabloids. Learn more about who Kardashian is, her career, and one of her latest additions to her music memorabilia collection.

Who is Kim Kardashian?

Kardashian is an American model, actress, businesswoman, and media personality. Kardashian was first known as a stylist and friend to Paris Hilton, but she became even more recognized once the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians begin airing in 2007.

Kardashian is the second daughter born to Kris Jenner, and she is the mother of four children with now estranged husband Kanye West. The pair married in 2014, and their relationship has garnered plenty of media attention.

In recent years, Kardashian has made a name for herself in the business world after years on reality TV, acting, and modeling.

In 2017, Kardashian created a beauty line, KKW Beauty, that offers eyeshadow, lipstick, and other common beauty products. Her half-sister Kylie Jenner also owns her own cosmetic line, Kylie Cosmetics, which also experience significant figures in sales.

Kardashian also released her own fragrance line, KKW Fragrance later in 2017, but she wasn’t done with her entrepreneurship here.

In 2019, she released her own line of shapewear called Skims, though the company did experience some controversy due to its original name of “Kimono,” which instantly received backlash. According to The Guardian, the mayor of Kyoto, Daisaku Kadokawa, wrote to Kardashian and asked her to reconsider the name.

Kardashian responded with a tweet stating, “I am always listening, learning and growing – I so appreciate the passion and varied perspectives that people bring to me. When I announced the name of my shape wear line, I did so with the best intentions in mind.”

Since then, Skims has adapted well to demands, shifting to offer lounge wear when the Coronavirus pandemic hit in 2020. Forbes estimates that Kardashian is now a billionaire, thanks largely in part to these business ventures.

Janet Jackson turned 55 on May 16th this year, and Kardashian posted a picture of the singer in her iconic bone vest from the 1993 “If” music video on her Instagram story. According to HYPEBEAST, Kardashian wrote, “Happy birthday queen! For @janetjackson’s bday bc I’m such a fan I can’t believe I won this on juliens_auctions,” revealing that she was the one who spent a whopping $25,000 on the outfit.

Jackson replied to Kardashian’s story with her own Instagram story that said, “Thank u so much @kimkardashian! I hope ‘IF’ gives u as much pleasure as it did me.”

This isn’t the only piece of Jackson memorabilia the Kardashian family owners. In 2019, Kardashian posted that she had won one of Michael Jackson’s custom velvet jackets for her daughter North in an auction, and she also purchased the white fedora Jackson wore in the 1988 music video for Smooth Criminal.

Interestingly, Page Six Style reports that Kardashian once dated Jackson’s nephew, T.J. when she was a teenager, and the pair attended prom together.
