‘KUWTK’ Didn’t Even Try to Keep Khloé and Tristan’s Relationship a Secret

The love lives of the Kardashian-Jenner sisters have been grabbing headlines and sending fans’ heads spinning for years. Lately, much of the drama and speculation around Keeping Up With the Kardashians has centered on the potential of reunions.

Many fans have been anxiously awaiting news that Kourtney Kardashian and ex Scott Disick have decided to give their relationship another go. These rumors intensified when  Disick and girlfriend Sofia Richie split. While all eyes were turned to that potential reunion, though, it seems like another one was taking place within the Kardashian family. 

Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson are reportedly giving their relationship another shot, and fans feel like Keeping Up with the Kardashians did very little to keep this fact secret. 

Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson’s relationship

Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson confirmed they were casually dating in September 2016. Within a month, Kardashian was spending a lot more time in Cleveland to be near the NBA player.  Of course, in the Kardashian family, a relationship’s true test of seriousness is an appearance on KUWTK. Thompson was present for the season 13 premiere in March 2017, so things were definitely heating up. 

By July, the couple was house hunting, and in September rumors started swirling that they were expecting their first child together. The pair didn’t officially confirm those rumors until December, and by that point there was no hiding it! They later announced they were expecting a daughter. 

The breakup devastated fans

Just as the happy couple seemed to be barreling toward parenthood and a happily ever after, there was trouble in paradise. Mere days before Kardashian was set to deliver their baby, Thompson was seen chatting it up with another woman in a Manhattan bar. Later, video captured that same woman entering a hotel with Thompson in the very early morning, setting off a cascade of allegations. 

Thompson was present for the birth of his daughter — True Thompson — shortly after, but it was clear that the issues stemming from the potential affair weren’t over.

The family relocated to Los Angeles for the summer and seemed to be making things work, but when Thompson returned to Cleveland as basketball season ramped back up, Kardashian and True stayed behind. Kardashian admitted she was struggling with the cheating allegations and called Thompson “lucky” that she was nine months pregnant when the event occurred.

The pair appeared to patch things up and spent the holidays together, posting cute social media pictures of their family. 

When new cheating allegations surfaced in February 2019, it became headline news. Thompson had allegedly slept with Kylie Jenner’s close friend Jordyn Woods, and the resulting fallout has become the stuff of reality TV lore.

Woods insisted that Thompson had tried to kiss her but that she rejected his advances. Kardashian and Thompson split in the aftermath, and Kardashian went on an angry tear, insisting Woods was lying about the level of intimacy and blaming her for wrecking her home. 

The reunion seemed inevitable

Many fans were angry at how Kardashian treated Woods during the aftermath of the breakup, and they became even angrier when things looked like they were headed toward a reunion for Kardashian and Thompson. Many felt like Kardashian was being a hypocrite by trying to destroy Woods’ life but being willing to forgive Thompson. Meanwhile, Kardashian invited Thompson to True’s first birthday party, making their first public reunion in September 2019. 

The pair remained distant but civil, working to co-parent their daughter. When episodes of KUWTK featured Kim Kardashian — who was especially angry at Thompson following the breakup — saying kind things about him, many fans guessed that the pair had secretly reunited and that the show was laying the groundwork for announcing that fact. Now that sources are reporting the reunion, fans are taking to Reddit to say they called it. 

One fan wrote, “the show was setting viewers up for this all along. I really wanted to believe she wouldn’t take him back but the minute I saw him coming around the show again and being all buddy buddy with Kim, then quarantining at Khloe’s house, etc – the Mayor of Boo Boo the Foolville was already back in office.” 

They might not all be happy about the reunion, but very few fans are surprised by it.
