‘KUWTK’ Fans Are Convinced They Know Why Kim and Khloé Got Upset With Kourtney About Filming
Keeping Up with the Kardashians just concluded its 14-year, 20-season run on E!, and as such, fans got an inside look at one of the most famous families in the world. Initially, a vehicle highlighting Kim’s ascent to relative fame, the series elevated anyone involved with the family to the A-List.
As a result, the family drama in front of the camera gave people an insight into the lives of the rich and famous.
Playing for the camera
Fandom notes that while Kim was the initial focus of the show, viewers quickly learned that the Kardashian-Jenners were filled with characters who could fill an entertainment quota typically reserved for scripted television. From the parents, Caitlyn and Kris, to the younger daughters Kylie and Kendall, the revolving doors of other spouses, siblings, friends, and acquaintances, a television universe was born.
With countless spinoffs, specials, and unofficial additions thanks to an onslaught of media attention, the Kardashians no longer need a show to broadcast their lives to the world. Perhaps, this is why Kourtney took a step back from production during later seasons to perform her duties as a mother and a business person.
The eldest Kardashian sibling, Kourtney, was the first of the sisters to have children. Her tumultuous relationship with the mercurial Scott Disick provided much of the early drama that still bled over to today. While the other sisters may have found more fame outside of the show, many argue that Kourtney was the wind that kept its sails going.
In later years, it became apparent that and Khloé, particularly, was not amused with Kourtney’s absence from the show, and many fans on Reddit chimed in with thoughts about the perceived spat.
Khloé lashes out
Reddit user u/Rude_Lifeguard believes that Khloé is behind the Kourtney saga. After all, the media scrutinized Khloé’s relationships, from Lamar Odom to James Harden and the roller coaster Tristan Thompson journey. Khloé is also the most candid about her relationships on camera, and while Kourtney had her own high-profile divorce, the user believes there’s a healthy dose of projection.
“I think Khloé is just mad that Tristan is messy and all of his shit came to light, so they have to talk about it in the show … Kourt is the easy target; Kendall doesn’t give a fuck about any of this, and Khloé would NEVER dare to go against the queen B Kylie/Kim. I really wonder what happened between these two because at times, it seems like no matter what, Kourt is always going to be in the wrong, according to Khloé.”
Combined with Kim’s own public relationship history, some fans believe that Kim and Khloé are just lashing out because Kourtney kept her drama behind the scenes.
Filling the void
With Kourtney largely out of the picture, it only made Kim and Khloe’s recent dramas louder. As such, many see the combination of scrutiny and the lack of Kourtney as added pressure. Citing a clip from the reunion special after the finale, user u/LongJumpingBuffalo85 believes that Kourtney’s introspection made her sisters think about their own roles.
“I think that in the later seasons, she (very reasonably) may’ve regretted how much she showed early on and wanted to take a step back to protect herself … I think that part of the reason Kim and Khloé got mad about Kourt pulling back from filming is because they realized they’d have to step up and show more to cover Kourt pulling back, and Kim and Khloé didn’t wanna do that.”
Whatever the case may be, the Kardashians television show may be no more. Still, the family finds a way to remain in the headlines, and whether it continues into their Netflix series or reality television, as they previously knew it, is finished, perhaps the drama with Kourtney is less about her not being there and more about Kim and Khloe’s regrets over not doing the same.
