Filming their lives has been a constant for the Kardashian-Jenners but what about the next generation of kids? Some fans of Keeping Up With the Kardashians are concerned that putting the spotlight on the children can be damaging for them.

Fans are worried about the littlest Kardashian-Jenners

A Reddit discussion kicked off about “the effect of filming on the kids” when the children appear on the reality show. Some fans did express worry about the experience for a young child.

Some fans pointed to the way Kylie Jenner’s experience growing up on a reality show seemed to have a negative impact. “I think you can see it’s had an effect on Kylie,” one Redditor noted. “She seems so self-conscious, she is always super done up and always posing in flattering angles, especially in that livestream w/Stass.”

They added, “She had to go through puberty on live TV with open access to thousands of horrible comments about her appearance. It doesn’t help that she has three superstars for big sisters, that she looks nothing like, as role models. Kylie was really beautiful in her own unique way and its always so sad to see how much she’s altered herself at such a young age, and even after all that she still retouches her photos.”

“The reason Kylie is self-conscious is probably 99% because of KUWTK so there’s your answer I’d say,” another Redditor stated.

Kim and Kourtney Kardashian explained how they protect their kids

This topic of filming the kids has come up before and, in a 2018 interview for the Pretty Big Deal podcast, Kim Kardashian West explained how she and her sister Kourtney Kardashian protect their kids during Keeping Up With the Kardashians filming.

“I have a good balance, if our kids are ever on the show, Kanye has to view it, he has to approve it,” Kardashian West explained. “We have a really good system. Sometimes I will send him a picture of the kids and then I’ll see him post it, and I’m like ‘I didn’t want that posted.’ Or he will say to me let’s chill out on posting the kids for a minute. So we will have our moments and it changes all the time.”

“Kourtney will take some seasons where her kids aren’t even on the show. It really all depends on how we’re feeling, and if we’re feeling like it’s too much pressure… we’re very in tune, we’re very aware,” she added.

Kourtney Kardashian quit the show

Kourtney felt the pressure of her life being on display and decided to step back from the reality show after reaching her breaking point in season 17.

She told Entertainment Tonight at the time, “I just decided to spend more time as a mom and put more of my energy there.”

On April 2, she shared with her Twitter followers: “I won’t be live tweeting #KUWTK tonight, as I’m spending time with my kids while they are on spring break. I realize that a lot of the conversation right now surrounds my work ethic, and I feel like I need to just make one thing clear: raising children is a job as well.”
