Since the announcement that the 20th season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians would be its last, fans have been doing some retrospection on their favorite moments from the past.

They’ve followed the Kardashian-Jenner sisters and their mom Kris Jenner through so many ups, downs, and absurdities that they practically feel like members of the family themselves. Now, though, some fans are looking ahead to what’s likely to come as the show wraps up and the family members determine and announce what they’ll be doing next.

Some fans are convinced we’ve already seen our very last Kardashian Christmas, and that thought is bittersweet for a lot of longtime viewers.

‘KUWTK’ has been marked with luxury and drama

KUWTK premiered in 2006. At the time, it was something of an experiment, and many people were perplexed about the goals of the show and its intended audience. Who would want to watch a bunch of rich people try to become famous? It turns out that a lot of people wanted to watch the Kardashian family claw their way into the fame and glamour of Hollywood, and that’s exactly what happened.

As the viewers increased, so did the influential power of the sisters. In turn, their fortunes grew, providing them platforms for each of their own projects.

There is no doubt that the reality TV series exceeded anyone’s expectations for the show. However, the last couple years have been a struggle. Even dedicated fans have wondered whether the show was on its last leg.

It seemed to be limping along primarily to keep the family’s lavish lifestyle intact rather than to actually tell a story or provide a platform for content.

Christmas has been a source of joy and battles

Some of the elements of the show that fans have come to love revolve around the holidays. The Kardashians throw lavish Christmas parties that are a great way for fans to escape into the celebrity world portrayed on KUWTK.

They also release an annual Christmas card with a family photograph that has become the source of much analysis and speculation. Who will get included? Who will be excluded? What clues about love lives and family feuds are revealed by the poses?

These traditions — while huge favorites for fans — have also been a source of tension within the family. As the show has been struggling to keep viewers engaged, fans were especially upset that Season 18 did not feature any footage of the annual Christmas party.

Instead, fans got to see multiple episodes that revolved around the planning of the big event but not the glitz and glamour of the event itself. Some speculated that the party wasn’t filmed because it was hosted by Kourtney Kardashian, who has famously stepped back from the show after declaring it “toxic.”

The family photograph for the annual Christmas card, too, has been a source of drama. In 2019, there wasn’t a card at all for the group as a whole because the family members apparently couldn’t get their busy schedules to align long enough to snap a suitable picture.

As most of the sisters have built families of their own, the traditions are shifting, and there’s less time for the parts fans love the most.

Now fans on Reddit are turning their attention to what to expect from the final two seasons of KUWTK. On Reddit, fans speculated that Season 19 would tackle the first six months of 2020 while the final season would take a look at the last six months. If that’s the case, Christmas would logically be part of the mix.

When one commenter added in that they’d heard filming for the final season would wrap up in November, it caused a stir. “We won’t even get [C]hristmas 2020?” the commenter asked, adding that New Year felt like a better closing point.

Another commenter jumped in to add, “I feel like after the drama with last Christmas and their debate over whether or not cameras would be there/who’s house everything would be held at/etc, they wouldn’t want to do another Christmas with the show.”

The battle over the holidays does seem to be a lot for the family to handle, and it seems plausible that they wouldn’t want to end their long-running show on a sour note of contention.
