As the most followed KarJenner on Instagram, Kylie Jenner receives a ton of attention. With an astounding 157 million followers on the popular platform, it’s no surprise that her every move is analyzed and dissected. Many times, the concerns that fans and critics express about Jenner are perfectly valid. A good example of this is when she posted about the devastating Australian fires and how she was heartbroken about the animals that had lost their lives. But, mere hours later, she was showing off her real mink fur Louis Vuitton slippers.

Jenner rightfully receives criticism and pushback for many of the things she posts to Instagram. However, sometimes critics take things a bit too far with their judgment and critiques. Recently, the 22-year-old billionaire posted some photos that got Ariana Grande fans up in arms. On January 9, 2020, Jenner took to her Instagram account to post two pictures of herself sporting a blue, bodycon, turtleneck dress. The Kylie Cosmetics founder completed the look with a tiny blue handbag and slicked back, super long, high ponytail.

Ariana Grande fans call Kylie Jenner out on Instagram

Of course, Arianators (Grande’s loyal fans) immediately spotted the similarities between Jenner’s ponytail and Grande’s signature ponytail. Grande has been sporting a similar look for the past six years. After dyeing her hair red for the hit shows Victorious and Sam & Cat, Grande suffered severe hair damage and breakage. She opted for a ponytail to make herself feel more comfortable. What started as a necessity eventually grew into something that she loved and became her signature look. In fact, the “Sweetener” singer rocks the high pony so much, it’s rare to see her with her hair down. While many fans made the comparison and enjoyed Jenner giving out “Ariana Grande vibes,” other fans of the talented singer were thoroughly unimpressed.

“Kylie I’m sorry but u don’t have the permission to steal Ariana’s signiture [sic] ponytail u can have any other hairstyle, but the ponytail takes it too far now take it out now,” one Instagram user wrote adamantly on the post. “Jus cuz ur ‘Kylie Jenner’ doesn’t mean u can steal Ariana Grande’s ICONIC ponytail 🙌😢,” another person commented. While many people felt aggravated by Jenner sporting a similar hairstyle with Grande, others felt that Arianators were taking things a bit too far. “LOL I don’t like Kylie but Ariana did not invent the ponytail,” one person declared.

The importance of the ponytail

While Grande did not invent the ponytail, it certainly has become a large part of her style. In fact, she has gone so far as to refer to it in the third person. Back in 2018, she gave an interview with Fader about it and shared that it has gone through a type of metamorphosis. “The pony has also gone through an evolution, and I’m proud of that. Old pony? I don’t know if she’s that girl. But new pony? I like her, “I mean, it’s like a Victoria Secret angel without angel wings. It’s still her without them, but when she’s with them it’s like, ‘Ohh, I get it, she’s an angel,'” the 26-year-old shared.

With Grande’s level of commitment to the ponytail, we’re not sure why any Arianators are worried about Jenner sporting a similar look. After all, a few days ago, the young mom was sporting yellow hair. It’s only a matter of time before she switches it up again.
