Lamar Odom’s ex-fiancee, Liza Morales, shared how she found out he proposed to Khloé Kardashian

In September 2009, Odom became one of the newest members of the Kardashian-Jenner family. Odom and Kardashian got married in a lavish ceremony after knowing each other for 30 days. While Kardashian didn’t have any children, Odom has two living children with Morales- Destiny Odom and Lamar Odom, Jr

Lamar Odom’s ex, Liza Morales, says ‘there aren’t words to explain’ how she felt when he became engaged to Khloé Kardashian

Odom and Morales met when they were both in high school. According to her 2013 essay for The Daily Beast, Morales was in the ninth grade when she first talked to Odom. Shortly after, Morales and Odom would spend a decade together, including an engagement and three children. Morales gave birth to Destiny and Lamar Jr in the 1990s as Odom advanced in his NBA career. Odom and Morales also welcomed a son, Jayden, in 2006. However, Jayden passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) at six months. Odom and Morales separated soon after.

In her essay, Morales said Odom proposed to Kardashian following their split. Morales recalled Odom not wanting to get married until he retired from basketball and said she was shocked and hurt when she learned through a text message that the man she loved was marrying someone else.

“I don’t think I’ll forget the tight knot I felt in the pit of my stomach the morning I received the text message with three simple words on the screen. It read ‘I’m getting married’ and it was from the man I’d spent more than 10 years of my life with. Years that included us getting engaged in 2000 and becoming parents to one daughter and two sons,” Morales wrote. Yet not long after our separation Lamar Odom was getting married to Khloé Kardashian, a woman he’d met four weeks before. How could the man who’d constantly given me reason after reason for why we couldn’t get married just yet now be ready to tie the knot so quickly? There aren’t words to explain how I felt that day.”

Liza Morales said her ‘cordial’ relationship with Lamar Odom shifted when he married Khloé Kardashian

During their marriage, Odom and Kardashian shared many of their private moments on Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Khloé and Lamar. Although Odom was a public figure, viewers of the E! Shows rarely saw Odom with his children. However, he and Kardashian would include them in family gatherings and events while they were married.

Morales said once Odom became a married man, her relationship with him fizzled. Before Odom met Kardashian, Morales said she wasn’t “really together” with Odom, which she later explained via TLC’s Starter Wives. However, Morales wrote that Odom struggled to communicate with her during his marriage, and she soon had to take legal action against him.

“We kept things cordial for the children’s sake after the breakup, but that changed when he married Khloé,” Morales said of her relationship with Odom. “Now we only communicate through third parties and lawyers, which I regret deeply since it is exactly what we each experienced as children and said we wouldn’t do to our kids.”

Liza Morales only met Khloé Kardashian once when Lamar Odom was married to her

Although she wasn’t in a relationship with Odom when he married Kardashian, Morales said she had difficulty getting to know the Revenge Body star during their relationship. According to Morales, she had one occurrence with Kardashian at that time, which she said was a positive experience.

“I’ve only met Khloe once, at my request, since she is my children’s stepmother, and I felt it was important to get a sense of her and what she’s like around my children,” Morales recalled. “It was a very pleasant meeting; she gave me a hug, so I’m happy it happened.”
