Latin music artist, CRYS said up-and-coming musicians shouldn’t wait for the “right time” to share their music and they should start pumping out their tunes to the masses immediately.

“Just do it,” she told Showbiz Cheat Sheet. “Use what you have to make it happen. Move with it. Like if you believe in it and you believe in yourself and you have something to say, use your voice.”

CRYS has advice for emerging Latin music artists

She suggested beginning with simple tools everyone can access. “Maybe start with a voice memo on your phone and then move to connect with a producer that can translate that sonically into something better quality with Logic or Pro Tools,” the Latin music artist said.

“Or maybe try and learn yourself how to use it. There’s so many resources out there to help you just educate yourself and refine your skill sets,” CRYS asserted. “But I definitely think it’s just a matter of believing in yourself, doing it, writing. Working the skill and connecting with the community to give creatives and other artists that are pursuing it. Because then it’s not just you. You know what I mean? But definitely having a strong community.”

She reveals how she creates music

CRYS has intention when she creates music, drawing from experiences, both painful and joyful.

“I think you have to live a little to be able to say something that’s of substance and of depth,” she remarked. “So I think drawing from your life experience, from the good times and even the bad times to be able to be authentic and very honest when it comes to writing and translating a message that genuinely moves you, then I think it can move others. I think it can connect others to themselves and to the music.”

“I think it’s just such a powerful tool because it’s just almost like a mirror, right?” she said about connectivity. “When I write my songs, it’s kind of like very vulnerable because I feel like I’m showing people beyond the surface, the things that are coming literally from my heart.”

“And so it’s awesome because it does provide that connection to be able to sing about things that I care about that maybe have been hard in my life,” she reflected. “Or, you know, at the core of everything, I think it’s just giving a message of hope and being able to shift the culture in a positive way and use my voice and then ultimately inspire others to use their voice as well.”

CRYS taps into her Latin music background to create ‘California Freestyle’

She only records based on her passions, which is why her new partnership with California Milk Advisory Board and creating the music video “California Freestyle” is a passion project.

“California Freestyle is basically capturing an intersection of California music and dairy, which are two things that I love,” she exclaimed. “Dairy products have always been a staple in my home growing up Latina. It always has brought us together as a family, you know, food, cheese, tacos all of those dishes that to me are representative of who I am. But also just a taste of California in general.”

“It’s more than a song, more than another campaign,” she shared. “It was very representative of what makes to me, in my opinion, the West Coast, the best coast. I just loved the rich and diverse cultural landscapes. We went all over California to a variety of locations to film it, actually. And it was so fun because like every stop was a celebration of the people and of the vibrant mindset of the Golden State. So it really is a fun project, and the music video and the song are available now and it’s exciting to be an artist based in Los Angeles that can represent all the things that I love about the Golden State.”

“California Freestyle” showcasing CRYS will also debut during the April 3rd Grammys broadcast in California markets.
