Law & Order: SVU fans know how long a Rollins and Carisi romance has been teased. And many have waited years to see the two finally give in to their feelings.

The monumental moment transpired in the season 22 finale. While attending Finn’s (Ice-T) wedding, the two had an emotional moment and kissed. Their years of friendship, trust, and love all came together with that one kiss.

And now, in season 23, Rollins and Carisi are a full-fledged couple. Fans have mixed opinions about the romance, but most can agree that it significantly impacts the character’s overall story arcs.

‘Law & Order: SVU’ star Peter Scanavino says Rollins and Carisi aren’t taking their relationship lightly

After waiting so long to see Carisi and Rollins get together, most fans hope the two make it last. Luckily, according to Scanavino, Rollins and Carisi are in this relationship 100 percent.

“You know I think [Carisi is] probably pretty secure in the relationship because I do think it’s not something that they’re taking very lightly,” the actor said in a recent interview with TV Line. “They’ve been able to keep this going.”

Scanavino also noted that Carisi and Rollins have to be open about their feelings because of their work. And while things get tense during their shared cases, the two know each other well enough to talk it through.

“Given their two jobs, they’ve got to be very forthright with it, express and talk to each other and communicate,” Scanavino added. “And I don’t think [Carisi] thinks this is a tenuous thing in terms of the feelings involved. [Although] it might be tenuous given the circumstances.”

Peter Scanavino says he was excited to learn of Rollins and Carisi’s romance

Many Law & Order: SVU fans were thrilled to see Rollins and Carisi’s monumental kiss in the season 22 finale. And when talking to TV Line, Scanvino revealed he was just as surprised and excited when he first learned about the kiss via script.

“I remember reading the script, and then, at the end, it was ‘Rollins kisses Carisi,’ and I was like, ‘What?! Oh my God!’” he recalled. “I texted Kelli immediately and said, ‘We kiss in the next episode,’ which is weird because Kelli and I are such good friends. But it’s also this earned payoff of what they’ve been building over the past eight years.”
