Hope Mikaelson made the biggest transition of her life on the latest episode of Legacies. But fans of the CW series are wondering if the tribrid will inherit her family’s powers and compel other vampires.

Hope goes full tribrid in ‘Legacies’

Hope is the daughter of half-vampire-half-werewolf Klaus Mikaelson and werewolf Hayley Marshall. She inherited her parents’ natures, along with her paternal grandmother’s with powers. However, for Hope to activate her vampire gene, she needs to die and feed on blood.

And it all happened In the fourth episode of the season, “See You on the Other Side.”  After killing herself (with the help of her witch aunt, Freya) to become the tribrid, Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) finds herself locked in a cell by Malivore/Landon (Aria Shahghasemi). Malivore’s plan is to prevent Hope from feeding on blood, with the hope that it will result in her final death.

But while the mud monster is occupied, Hope escapes. She finds Malivore-controlled Kaleb (Chris De’Sean Lee) attempting to kill Alaric (Matthew Davis). After she stops Kaleb and falls to the ground, Alaric realizes she’s dying. He cuts his hand with a knife and offers her his blood.

Reluctantly, Hope takes a drink and immediately activates her vampire side. She then encounters Malandon and stabs him with a dagger made of her blood.

Can Hope compel other vampires as a tribrid?

As seen in the Legacies prequels, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, Klaus and his siblings were the very first vampires. They were far stronger than any other vampires, and also harnessed the power to compel them.

Now that Hope is a full tribrid, she is both vampire and werewolf. And as it appears in “See You on the Other Side,” Hope uses magic to make a dagger out of her blood. So she may still retain her witch powers.

If Hope also inherited the strength and power of the Mikaelsons, especially her dad, it is likely that she’ll be able to compel other vampires, just as they did. But because Hope is the first tribrid, there is no way to know for sure.

‘Legacies’ fans think Hope will inherit Mikaelson powers

Hope is by far one of the most unique, and perhaps the strongest characters in The Vampire Diaries universe. And some Legacies fans think she’ll inherit all of her family’s powers, including the compulsion of other vampires.

“Since she is this all-powerful being, I think it makes sense that she has all the powers of all the most powerful versions of each [of the] three supernaturals,” a Reddit user wrote

But other fans aren’t so sure. “I would say it’s more likely than not that she will be able to compel vampires,” another Redditor suggested. “But I don’t want to say it’s 100 percent.”

Hopefully, within the next few episodes, fans will get a clearer picture of Hope’s powers. Her aunt, Rebekah Mikaelson (Claire Holt) is coming to visit. And she’s likely to share some original vampire wisdom with her beloved tribrid niece.

New episodes of Legacies air Thursdays, at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
