Lenny Kravitz Opens up About His Close Friendship With His Ex Lisa Bonet’s Husband, Jason Momoa
Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet’s whirlwind marriage may have ended in divorce, but that hasn’t stopped their friendship from blossoming. Kravitz is also close to Bonet’s husband, Jason Momoa. The three are often seen at Hollywood events and share photos of intimate family moments they spend together.
Some find the arrangement strange but Kravitz says it’s perfectly healthy. He praises the relationship between Bonet and Momoa and speaks about why he admires Momoa in a new interview.

Kravitz and Bonet’s love story was magnetic from the start. They met at a New Edition concert in the mid-1980s during the peak of Bonet’s career. At the time, Kravitz’s music career was at a standstill and he was a struggling musician in a genre that was typically unwelcoming to Black artists. Bonet was ⅕ of America’s favorite television family on The Cosby Show.
Kravitz said of Bonet during a 1995 interview with Rolling Stone, “That woman inspired me so much. It was a magical time that she and I shared. I just opened up artistically.”
They eloped in 1987. A year later, they welcomed their daughter, Zoë. The young couple were one of Hollywood’s favorites, but being young is exactly what drove them apart. They separated in 1991 and two years later, their divorce was finalized.
Kravitz spiraled into a state of depression, admitting that he barely slept for six months after their split. Despite the breakup, Kravitz and Bonet consider themselves to be the best of friends. The two have blended their families seamlessly and spend tons of time together.

Since their divorce, Bonet married Aquaman star, Momoa. Bonet and Momoa met in 2005 and have been together since. Momoa admits that he’s had a crush on Bonet since he was 8-years-old, making his marriage to Bonet a dream come true. Momoa and Bonet have two children together.
Despite her new life, Kravitz is very much still part of Bonet’s family. He and Momoa have a great relationship. They spend holidays together, attend events as a blended family, and Kravitz is even like an uncle to Bonet and Momoa’s children.
The closeness between Momoa and Kravitz is something that some fans find strange. But Kravitz finds it perfectly normal. In a new interview with Men’s Health, Kravitz gushes over Momoa.
“People can’t believe how tight Jason and I are, or how tight I still am with Zoë’s mom, how we all relate,” Kravitz says. “We just do it because that’s what you do. You let love rule, right? I mean, obviously, after a breakup, it’s work—it takes some work and time, healing and reflection, et cetera. But as far as Jason and I? Literally the moment we met, we were like, ‘Oh, yeah. I love this dude.’”
Kravitz says the relationships he has with Bonet and Momoa is necessary, noting that though his daughter is now an adult, it’s important for him and Bonet to show their daughter a healthy co-parenting relationship.
