Netflix’s Emily In Paris has received mixed reactions from viewers since its first premiere in 2020. While some people find the show funny and endearing, others think it is tone-deaf in its portrayal of French people and French culture.

The star of the show, Lily Collins, recently ran into a poster for Emily In Paris that was vandalized. She took to social media to share her reaction.

‘Emily In Paris’ recently premiered its second season

Season 2 began filming some time in the spring of 2021, and it officially premiered several months later on Dec. 22.

The first season mostly focused on Emily Cooper (Collins) adjusting to life in Paris after moving there from Chicago. However, the second season sees our protagonist becoming more well-versed in French culture, and she even ventures out into other places in France, such as St. Tropez.

“You really go into different areas of the city, and see Emily trying a little harder and making an effort in her new city,” Collins told Glamour. “She’s really leaning into the environment and allowing herself to embrace it and become one with it.”

The second season also continues to follow the love triangle between Emily, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), and Camille (Camilla Razat). However, Emily is also developing a relationship with businessman Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), which adds more complication to her love life.

Emily In Paris has been promoting its second season, but not everyone supports the show.

On Jan. 3, Collins took to Instagram to share her run-in with a vandalized poster of Emily In Paris, where Collins’ face had been drawn on with red ink.

“I can’t say I love the new look, Em,” she wrote in the caption. “But A for effort.”

Collins also shared a video of her husband, Charlie McDowell, walking by the poster before running away.

Some of Collins’ co-stars commented on the post. For example, Ashley Park, who plays Emily’s friend Mindy, wrote, “She’s a class act everyone.” Meanwhile, Kevin Dias, who plays Benoît, Mindy’s love interest in season 2, reacted with several cry-laughing emojis.

Season 2 ended with a cliffhanger as Emily is forced to make some tough decisions. Collins, who is also a producer of the show, does not know what Emily’s decisions will be, but she is open to having a third season to explore more of Emily’s life.

“I would love the opportunity to get to do a season 3. I myself don’t know her choice yet. I keep asking,” Collins told People. “But whatever choice it is you know it will be filled with drama, fashion and a lot of fun and romance.”

She also added, “I am down for whatever decision comes my way if we get to do it.”
