Lisa Becomes the Second BLACKPINK Member to Release a Solo Single Album
Lisa from BLACKPINK is known for her record-breaking Instagram posts, her unique fashion sense, and her undying love for cats.
Now, the maknae of this girl group is stepping out on her own, releasing the solo album, Lalisa, and becoming the second member to do so. Here’s what we know about this rapper and her upcoming solo work.
Lisa is a rapper, dancer, and singer for the award-winning K-pop group, BLACKPINK
BLACKPINK is one of K-pop’s most popular groups. Together, members Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé collaborated with Lady Gaga, Cardi B, Dua Lipa, and Selena Gomez. They also became the first K-pop group to perform at The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Now, the youngest BLACKPINK member, named Lisa, will become the second member of this K-pop group to release a solo album. (The first was the singer Rosé, who debuted two songs for her mini-mixtape.)
According to NME, “Lalisa was composed by frequent BLACKPINK collaborators 24, Bekuh Boom and Teddy, while it was arranged by 24 and had its lyrics written by Boom and Teddy. ‘Money,’ meanwhile, is credited to Boom and Vince in terms of lyrics, 24, Boom, R.Tee and Vince for composition and 24 and R.Tee for arrangement.”

Thanks to social media, fans learned that this album is title Lalisa and will feature songs like “Lalisa” and “Money.” Fans also await the debut of music videos featuring this rapper, as Lisa’s Instagram teased visuals for these upcoming releases.
“My first single album,” Lisa captioned one Instagram picture, revealing more details regarding Lalisa’s release date. (Within a matter of days, this post earned over 7 million likes from fans.)
This album is expected to premiere on Sept. 10, 2021. Until then, other songs featuring this K-pop idol, including “How You Like That,” are available on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
Other BLACKPINK members released solo music
Although this is Lisa’s first official solo album, other BLACKPINK idols released music as solo artists. The first was the rapper Jennie, who debut “Solo” in 2018. Since then, Rosé debuted her solo songs, “On the Ground” and “Gone,” in addition to their corresponding music videos.
Some members branched out to work on acting-related projects. That includes the oldest member of the group, Jisoo. However, all four artists partner with brands and fashion houses, bringing iconic looks to fans via social media.
For Lisa, that meant collaborating with the fashion house, Celine. She also posted pictures with Bulgari, the Italian luxury brand known for its jewelry. Fans also learned about this rapper from the Netflix original documentary titled BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky.
The album Lalisa debuts globally on Sept. 10, 2021. Music by BLACKPINK, including their recently released single with Selena Gomez, “Ice Cream,” is available on most major streaming platforms.
