Jesy and Sean’s relationship

2020 was a weird year for most people, but surprisingly a lot of relationships were birthed during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Nelson began dating Sagar toward the beginning of quarantine in April. But now, the two have called it quits.

“Jesy just left Little Mix and is working hard on herself right now — she has to put herself first. Lockdown has made it really difficult too, so for now Jesy and Sean are taking time apart from each other,” a source told The Sun.

The two have since deleted all pictures of one another from their social media accounts.

Jesy Nelson leaves Little Mix

On December 14, Nelson shocked fans when she announced that she was leaving Little Mix.

“To all my Mixers,” she wrote in a lengthy Instagram post. “The past nine years in Little Mix has been the most incredible time of my life. We have achieved things I never thought possible. From winning our first Brit Award to our sold-out shows at the O2. Making friends and fans all over the world. I can’t thank you all enough from the bottom of my heart for making me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. You have always been there to support and encourage me, and I will never ever forget it.”

When some stars leave groups, they also leave their fans with a lot of questions but Nelson was very upfront with her fans about why she left the group.

“Being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health,” she wrote. “I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard. There comes a time in life when we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves rather than focusing on making other people happy, and I feel like now is the time to begin that process. So, after much consideration and with a heavy heart, I’m announcing I’m leaving Little Mix.”

Nelson had been in the group since 2011 when she was paired with Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock on X-Factor.

Jesy Nelson’s breakup with Chris Hughes

Nelson and Hughes began dating in early 2019. Though Hughs never proposed, the two commonly called each other “future wife” and “future husband.” In April 2020, news broke that the couple had split.

“Jesy and Chris split up a couple of weeks ago. It was all very amicable and they’re still really good friends,” a source told The Sun in Apr. 2020. “Jesy rang Chris and led the conversation about their relationship and both agreed that it felt like it had run its course – they’re both absolutely fine.”

Nelson then deleted all traces of Hughes off of her Instagram account.

“It was tough and when everyone’s like, time’s a healer, you don’t believe it when you’re in the moment,” Hughes said on The Secret To podcast. “I don’t think I’ve ever felt heartbroken or anything [before]. And then a couple of weeks down the line, you start thinking about it less and less. And the next thing, you’re good as gold.”

A few months later, Nelson began dating Sagar.
