Fans of the Netflix series Locke & Key are gearing up for the second season of the show. Season 2 will premiere in October, and the Locke family has a lot of problems to take care of.

The series is loosely based on the graphic novels of the same name by Gabriel Rodriguez and Joe Hill. Hill is the son of horror master Stephen King, so he knows his way around a scary story. The Lockes only found 12 keys scattered throughout Keyhouse in the season 1. That only means more keys to be found in upcoming seasons.

There are still some powerful keys to be found in ‘Locke & Key’ Season 2

There are differing opinions on the most powerful key in the set of magical keys from Locke & Key, but the Anywhere Key and the Omega Key rank pretty high on the list. That doesn’t mean there aren’t more out there for Tyler (Connor Jessup), Kinsey (Emilia Jones), and Bode (Jackson Robert Scott) to find.

There are close to 40 keys the Locke family has created over the years. Each has a different magical ability. Of course, with a demon walking around trying to snag all of them, the Locke kids need to get to them first.

The Animal Key

Audiences caught a glimpse of a map in Mark Cho’s (Ken Pak) house that indicated where all of the keys were hidden. The Animal Key is listed, implying it could make its appearance in upcoming seasons of the show. Plus, it plays an essential role in the comics.

This would be a fun key to see played out on screen. Plus, it could also be convenient for snooping around. It’s similar to the Identity Key. It allows the user to transform into the animal that best represents their inner soul.

The Timeshift Key

Viewers also saw the Timeshift Key on the map of Mark Cho’s. Whoever is holding this key can view events from the past but can’t interfere with them. This could be instrumental in determining a way to beat Dodge as the Locke ancestors who created the keys are dead.

This key is used with a grandfather clock seen in an episode of Locke & Key Season 1. The person holding the key uses the numbers on the clock to set the date they want to travel to. We already know the grandfather clock is inside Keyhouse. So, it’s a pretty safe bet we’ll see the Timeshift Key put to use.

‘Locke & Key’ Season 2 is only a few weeks away

Netflix renewed the series relatively quickly after the first season premiered. The streaming service announced season 2 would drop on Netflix in October earlier this year. Netflix and Chills recently released their lineup; Locke & Key was included.

We also know that showrunners Meredith Avrill and Carlton Cuse filmed seasons 2 and 3 back to back. This hopefully means fans won’t have such a long wait to learn more about the Locke’s adventures. However, season 3 has no confirmed release date. If you’re craving some of that sweet Locke & Key action in the meantime, you can find season 1 streaming on Netflix.
