‘Love & Hip Hop’ Former Star Deb Antney Says She Initially ‘Never Knew’ Nicki Minaj and Safaree Samuels Were a Couple

Deb Antney was once known for being one of the more level-headed cast members of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. However, she has stirred a bit of controversy during her time on Growing up Hip Hop: Atlanta, including the time she revealed that she voted for Donald Trump to be president again, much to the chagrin of most of her cast members. Now, Antney is back in the news for comments she made about the former relationship of her ex-client, Nicki Minaj, and her former partner, Safaree Samuels.

Deb Antney on ‘Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta’


Before she was on Love & Hip Hop, Antney was a well-known force in the music industry. She was very instrumental in the careers of hip-hop artists including Gucci Mane, Nicki Minaj, French Montana, and of course, her son and co-starWaka Flocka Flame.

Antney appeared on several seasons of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Initially, she guest-starred on the first and second seasons of the show, working with Rasheeda and other starts of the series. In the third season, she officially joined the franchise as a supporting cast member. For the thiird season, her storyline revolved around the death of her other son and her journey to becoming in anti-bullying and suicide prevention campaigns.

She remained appear a supporting cast member in seasons four, five and, six, mostly giving support and advice to Waka Flocka Flame and his wife, veteran Love & Hip Hop cast member Tammy Rivera. She had a big storyline in the following season, helping Tommie Lee try to reconnect with her mother. Antney, Waka Flocka Flame, and Rivera all left the show after the. sixth season.

Once she left franchise, she joined wE tv’s Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta, which she also executive produces. Antney has appeared on every season of the show. Waka Flocka Flame and Rivera began appearing beginning in season 3, before their stint Marriage Boot Camp, also on WE tv. They now star in their own show for the network, Waka and Tammy: What the Flocka.

What Deb Antney says about Nicki Minaj and Safaree Samuels

Antney recently appeared on Drink Champs and talked a lot about how she perceived the relationship between Minaj and Samuels.

“I never knew her and Safaree was going together,” she said during the interview, as reported by The Jasmine Brand. “I thought Safaree was a gay guy that she hung out with, and he was her helper. She never showed [affection].”

She said she also was confused because the duo used to book separate rooms, but it wasn’t because they occupied both of them.

“When I was booking her out, she was like, ‘Deb, I need two rooms,’ but the two rooms wasn’t for him because she would get dressed in the other room, but I didn’t know that they went together,” said Antney. “I never knew until he took my car from her, and she called me to lock him up. And then he called me, and that’s when he broke down everything.”
