TV and movie star Lucy Hale has certainly been in the headlines a lot lately. Currently, her love life is the subject of speculation as she has been linked to former bachelor Colton Underwood. But, earlier this month, Hale made headlines because of her career. On July 2, 2020, Hale’s new CW show Katy Keene was been canceled after just one season. This is something that has happened to Hale multiple times throughout her career. Privileged, Life Sentence, and Bionic Woman, unfortunately, suffered the same fate as Katy Keene.

Though Hale has been acting in movies and television shows for years, she’s faced a bit of bad luck with her shows getting cut too short. To date, the longest-running show she has been a part of is Pretty Little Liars. Hale played Aria Montgomery on the hit Freeform show for seven seasons. Naturally, she developed some strong connections on the show which are still in place today.

Lucy Hale gets emotional about ‘Katy Keene’ cancellation on Instagram

On July 2, 2020, Hale took to Instagram to post a video following the news of Katy Keenes cancellation. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 alum shared that she wanted to do more than just post a photo because a simple photo wouldn’t do her feelings justice.

Speaking through tears, Hale shared that she had tried to record the video multiple times, but was too upset to convey her deepest thoughts. Hale expressed love for the show and the people involved before sharing that the news felt particularly difficult to digest.

“Each time it’s just like, ugh, just heartbreaking,” the Pretty Little Liars alum shared. I mean, it’s a job that has broken my heart numerous times. This is bad, this a bad one … oh my God, sorry, it will take some time to get over.

‘Pretty Little Liars’ alumni rally around Lucy Hale

Naturally, Hale had many friends and fans sympathizing with her and sending her well wishes. Among them were her fellow Pretty Little Liars alums, who rallied around her and left sweet messages of love and support.

“You are so so good and so so talented,” Ian Harding who played Hale’s love interest, Ezra Fitz, on the show wrote. “This is a bump in the road and you sure as hell will work again with people who are as committed and loving as you are. So sorry to hear this though. You are a joy and a champ.”

Keegan Allen, who played Hale’s friend, Toby Cavanaugh on Pretty Little Liars also shared some kind words.”Lucy, this video is so honest and real. You are so talented and wonderful in this role. It is timeless. Your journey is an inspiration to so many as you gracefully share this hidden side of it. All too often, a great loss like this is overlooked as a headline…it’s important for your fans to know how hard you and a small town of people work to bring a show of this magnitude together. I know your work ethic and I’m sending you so much love.”

I. Marlene King, the show’s creator and showrunner, also shared a sweet message to the actor as did Janel Parrish. “Love you sweet Luce, ❤️” Parrish, who played Mona Vanderwall wrote. Clearly, this is a difficult time in Hale’s career. So, it’s good that her Pretty Little Liars family is willing to rally around her and remind her of her talent and worth. We look forward to seeing what movies and TV shows she does in the future. Her latest film, A Nice Girl Like You, is now playing on-demand.
