Luenell on Settling Leslie Jones Feud During ‘Coming 2 America’: ‘We’re Gonna Make History’

Not many people knew that Luenell and Leslie Jones were once beefing, but now fans are definitely aware. With the release of Coming 2 America coming up, Luenell gave come context on how she and her fellow actress-comedian put their differences aside when doing the movie.

When will ‘Coming 2 America’ be released?

Coming 2 America, the highly-anticipated to the classic comedy film Coming to America, will premiere Mar. 5, 2021 on Amazon Prime Video. The film was set for a theatrical release via Paramount, but due to limitations on the release schedule because of coronavirus (COVD-19) pandemic, Paramount released distribiution rights the film. The rights were acquired by Amazon Studios with the industry not sure when the majority of theaters will be able to reopen all across the country, especially in New York and Los Angeles.

Stars of the film include Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Jermaine Fowler, Jones, Tracy Morgan, KiKi Layne, Shari Headley, with Wesley Snipes and James Earl Jones. Other featured performers are John Amos, Teyana Taylor, Luenell, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Nomzamo Mbatha, Bella Murphy, and Paul Bates.

Luenell recently revealed she had a rift with her ‘Coming 2 America’ co-star Leslie Jones

Speaking with Comedy Hype, Luenell says that she and Jones had some issues that went back to years before they were filming Coming 2 America together.

“As much as Leslie Jones and I have not gotten along and as many years as we’ve known each other, we were able to come to a meeting of the minds during the filming of this movie,” she said. “And as much as it pains me to say, she’s going to be a huge star after this movie comes out because this is probably the best work she’s ever done, in her life, Saturday Night Live included.”

Their feud was due to a dispute they had when they were on tour with Katt Williams “It was throwback feelings she had way back when I was on tour with Katt and she was doing some spot dates,” Luenell said of their issues before the patched it up. ‘She felt a certain type of way. Big misunderstanding.”

Luenell talks more about her feud with Leslie Jones

In a new interview with The Jasmine Brand, Luenell talked more about burying the hatchet with Jones during the filming for Coming 2 America.

“I was quite content with me and Leslie’s beef,’ she said. “I was fine with it okay, but also knowing that we had to work together in a film that’s going to be epic, I came to the set with the mindset that I’m going to put everything aside. I’m gonna speak, we’re gonna make history this is gonna be amazing. “

Luenell also told the outlet a wild and hilarious story of how she robbed a bank once. She ended up going to jail for the robbery.

“I knew that the bank that I was working at was about to fail and being the hustler that I thought I was, I said well I’m gonna get some of this money before this bank goes to h*ll,” she explained. So I robbed the bank – embezzlement if you want to call it that. I got away with this for over 10 years then I finally got popped by the feds and I went to a jail. I did four months and 18 days on a year bid at Twin Towers.”
