Macaulay Culkin has plenty of Hollywood projects under his belt, but his best-known role was when he played Kevin McAllister in the 1990 Christmas comedy Home Alone.

The role helped define Culkin’s career and continues to ensure his fame as it’s taken on a cult classic status. Fans around the world still watch Home Alone every year during the holiday season or whenever they want to relive their childhoods.

Culkin was a young kid when he played Kevin in the iconic movie. Now he’s a 40-year-old man, but he’s not above referencing his famous part occasionally. Especially when it helps get his message across, like while encouraging fans to wear their masks during the pandemic.

Culkin started acting when he was just 4 years old. After making a name with some smaller parts, including film work alongside Hollywood great John Candy in the 1989 comedy Uncle Buck, the actor landed the role of a lifetime.

Home Alone became a cultural phenomenon. It told the story of two burglars (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern) trying to rob a wealthy Chicago suburb while the homeowners are away for the holidays. The McAllisters planned a trip to Paris but inadvertently left their 8-year-old son Kevin (Culkin) home by himself. He managed to outwit the criminals trying to rob his house by setting booby traps.

The John Hughes film made $476 million, setting the record for a live-action comedy at the time. Home Alone also scored two Golden Globe nominations and two Academy Award nominations, IMDb reported.

He made a creepy yet silly mask to represent 1 iconic scene

After three decades of fans asking him to quote Home Alone, Culkin is probably tired of doing the same old impressions. But he’s not above using the movie to get his point across. The actor recently donned a very recognizable face mask to urge followers to wear masks more often. Culkin’s choice of graphic was both humorous and horrifying.

“Just staying Covid-safe wearing by the flayed skin of my younger self. Don’t forget to wear your masks, kids,” he captioned the tweet. The included photo showed an oversized image of Kevin’s screaming face from the infamous aftershave scene in Home Alone.

Most followers were delighted by Culkin’s silly photo, but others reacted with fear at the distorted image from the iconic film.

Macaulay Culkin intentionally made ‘Home Alone’ fans feel old

He may have moved past his child acting days, but Culkin hasn’t stopped referencing the most significant movie from his past. The actor took to Twitter in August to remind his fans just how much time has passed since Home Alone debuted.

“Hey guys, wanna feel old? I’m 40. You’re welcome,” the actor snarkily shared in a tweet on Aug. 26, 2020 — the same day he was turning 40.

He continued on the same thread: “It’s my gift to the world: I make people feel old. I’m no longer a kid, that’s my job.”

At least Culkin doesn’t mind discussing the movie that made him famous. Even if it is 30 years old at this point.
