The blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe remains one of Hollywood‘s most beloved actors (and one of the most financially successful stars even in death). Besides her movies, Monroe was known for her alleged affairs with several high-profile people in the world.

Marilyn Monroe had several big-name lovers

Monroe was famously married to baseball superstar Joe DiMaggio for nine months in the mid-1950s. Beyond DiMaggio, however, Monroe was known to have had trysts with a number of different well-known figures.

There was also a rumored romance of Monroe’s that ended up being debunked. Anton LaVey founded the Church of Satan in 1966, born out of the counterculture of that decade. LaVey was described as a “born showman,” but his sense of showmanship extended to lying: LaVey claimed he had an affair with Monroe, but according to the Encyclopedia Britannica, his fellow Satanists proved that his claims were false.

According to Vice, LaVey was obsessed with the Gentlemen Prefer Blondes actor. Lavey would later befriend Jayne Mansfield, another blonde actress of the period who is often compared to Monroe.

Marilyn Monroe’s infamous alleged affair with John F. Kennedy

The most well-known love affair that Monroe had throughout her life was with President John F. Kennedy. Monroe’s famous performance of “Happy Birthday” for President Kennedy at a 1962 birthday celebration in Madison Square Garden is widely remembered to this day, and is perhaps the biggest indicator of their affair.

Monroe sang the song in a breathy, almost seductive voice that sounded much more risqué than a traditional rendition of the birthday tune. “Happy birthday, Mr. President,” she cooed.

“I can now retire from politics after having had ‘Happy Birthday’ sung to me in such a sweet, wholesome way,” the president said after she finished.

Both Monroe and Kennedy died in the early 1960s, and we will never know what exactly happened between the them. According to Time, two Monroe biographers, James Spada and Donald Soto, are convinced that the two had an affair.

According to Spada, Monroe also briefly dated JFK’s brother, Robert F. Kennedy.

Marilyn Monroe might have been secretly pregnant

Playwright Arthur Miller was Monroe’s third husband. They met in 1950 and remained friends for several years until they began having an affair while Monroe was married to DiMaggio. They married in 1956 and had more than their fair share of problems throughout their five-year marriage, including Monroe suffering two miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy.

In 2019, a photo collector was selling rare images of Monroe in 1960 where she’s purportedly sporting a baby bump. According to TMZ, the photos were sold through the memorabilia company Moments in Time for approximately $95,000.

The stunning photos were shot by Marilyn’s confidant Frieda Hull, who long ago claimed that Monroe told her she was pregnant at the time when they shot the images in New York. But she wasn’t bearing her husband’s child: Hull said Monroe had a dalliance with actor Yves Montand and was pregnant with his baby. Monroe was married to Miller at that time, and she had just worked with Montand on the movie Let’s Make Love.
