Some fans of Lifetime’s Married at First Sight Season 10 thought Michael Watson and Meka Jones might be getting back on the right track on last week’s episode.

But after the Feb. 26 episode, “The ‘L’ Word,” the couple’s argument had many viewers wondering if they would ever recover from their honeymoon fight. Married at First Sight fans took to Twitter to sound off on Meka’s trust issues with Michael and his claims about turning down a promotion to take a  different job.

Michael told Meka he got a new job, but she wasn’t buying it

In a meeting with Pastor Cal Roberson, Michael initially claimed he was moving up the career ladder and taking on a new job at a school principal. But on the latest episode, Michael told Meka his plans had fallen through.

“So there’s gonna be a little bit of a change with my schedule,” he said, immediately sparking his wife’s suspicions. He continued, “So I decided to actually not go with the principal job at the Catholic school. I thought it was just following my best interests to move on from that position.” Michael added that he’d already taken a new director position at a different school, all without informing Meka beforehand.

Meka admitted she was disappointed by Michael’s decision, especially because she had hoped that Michael’s higher salary would give them “stability” in their marriage. “I’m pretty career oriented, so I was super excited when Michael told me that he was accepting a new job as a principal,” the Married at First Sight star said. “But now he’s turning it down? Why?”

But Meka’s issues with Michael’s career change went deeper than money and stability. Because the couple struggled with trust and Meka didn’t believe Michael was completely honest, she didn’t completely believe his version of events.

“How can I build a life with somebody if I don’t know what they’re being truthful about and what they’re lying about?” the Married at First Sight star wondered. “Michael has lied so much about so many different things.”

When Meka confronted him, Michael claimed he hadn’t let his wife in completely because he didn’t feel “comfortable” with her yet. “And I don’t know all there is to know about you,” Michael continued. “There’s just certain things I’d rather keep to myself.”

Some ‘Married at First Sight’ fans thought Michael’s story was fishy

Many Married at First Sight viewers had the same response as Meka to Michael’s story about his job. Some wondered if he even had the principal job to begin with, while others simply thought something about his story wasn’t the whole truth.

“Michael said that sh** about getting a principal promotion and double a salary to Pastor Cal cause he was tryna flex after the lie came out lmao!!” one Twitter user wrote. “Gaslighting, backpedaling 6 day a week in the gym my a** lying a** fool!

Others thought Michael didn’t always seem sincere on camera. “I still don’t like Meka…but I really think Michael is a liar,” one Married at First Sight fan wrote. “Look at his body language when he talk about sh**.”

Another viewer joked, “Michael is a ‘principal’ like I am an ‘astronaut.’”

And one Twitter user wondered if Lifetime had done their due diligence when it came to making sure Michael’s claims were true. “I need to know who at Lifetime was responsible for verifying Michael’s employment,” they wrote.

Other viewers said Meka seemed too critical of her husband

While most Married at First Sight fans seemed to take Meka’s side over Michael’s in their ongoing argument, some viewers thought she was pushing her husband away. In particular, several viewers thought she should tone down her attitude with Michael and try to see things from his point of view.

“Meka is so critical. She is truly emasculating Michael,” one Twitter user argued.

Another viewer agreed, but wondered if Meka’s attitude might be due to her trust issues with Michael. “Meka has ATTITUDE!!!! She comes out so cold,” they wrote. “I hope it’s just bad editing. But then again if you don’t love nor trust your husband, it’s hard to be all lovey lovey smiley go lucky.”
